Fractured anteriors due to fall from bicycles is probably the most common complaint most of our 8-9 year old boys come to the clinic for.
In this particular case, the young man had a complicated crown fracture with the permanent left upper anterior.
After capping the the pulp with biodentin and allowing some time for healing, we went ahead with restoring the the fractured tooth with composite.
His happy smile makes it all worth it! 😁

Trauma to front teeth during play aren’t uncommon for our little explorers. Here a fall from the bicycle cause a clean break of the anterior permanent tooth of this active 9 year old boy. The parents were able to retrieve the broken fragment which we then reattached for a more natural looking tooth. 🦷

Case of a large dentigerous cyst in relation to upper left maxillary canine involving maxillary sinus.
Enucleation and curettage was done under general anaesthesia by .sabnis with loss of upper maxillary canine and lateral incisor.

6 year old patient with dento alveolar abscess in milk tooth. After confirmation with an x-ray, we decided that the tooth was beyond saving and went ahead with extraction followed by cementation of a band and loop space maintainer.

What is a Space Maintainer?

Dental space maintainers are devices used to leave enough space open for permanent teeth to grow in after baby teeth are lost prematurely. While it might not seem like a big problem at first, not taking care of a gap can lead to expensive problems down the road.

Molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) or chalky teeth is a type of enamel defect affecting the first permanent molars and permanent incisors. MIH is a worldwide problem and usually occurs in children under 10 years old. The affected teeth are more prone to caries and post-eruptive enamel breakdown. Hence, it is of utmost importance to detect this condition as early as possible to reduce severity of defect and to provide appropriate treatment.

Prevention is better than cure!!!
Fluoride varnish is a dental treatment that can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. Fluoride varnish is made with fluoride, a mineral that can strengthen tooth enamel.
This can be done 2 to 4 times per year depending upon how likely it is that the child may get cavities.

Is tooth eruption as early as at 1 month of age really a good thing?
Natal/Neonatal teeth are teeth present at birth or erupt within the first month of birth. Such early teeth can cause ulcers on the infants tongue. If loose, they pose as a choking hazard and can have weary consequences.
Hence, extraction of such teeth right away is of utmost importance. Such extractions are painless and do not cause the infant any major discomfort.
