V Care Foundation
Empowering cancer patients with care. V Care Foundation is patient focused, volunteer driven organisation. Founded by Vandana Gupta post her cancer treatment.
It has been in the field of cancer care for the last 27 years. V Care nourishes cancer patients mind & spirit. It helps empowering patients and their families. At V Care we are encouraged to focus on creating meaningful impacts. We believe that 'We exists to help patients, they dont exist to help us'
Cervical cancer awareness is observed during the month of January. This cancer is particularly easy to diagnose in women and has a high rate of preventability. Here at V Care, we're committed to empowering women everywhere to be more self-aware and considerate of their bodies.
Challenges and discrimination associated with cancer must be overcome. Insist that the women folk within your circle take better care of themselves.

Making a difference.
Every interaction we have with the people we encounter along the way has the potential to change their lives. Smt Sushiladevi Deshmukh Vidyalaya and Junior College had extended an invitation for an awareness programme, around seventy-five female students participated, and a handful of them had personal experiences with cancer and were willing to talk about it.
Never stop doing little things for others as sometimes these little things make a lot of difference.
Our sincere appreciation goes out to everyone at Chembur's 'The Bombay Presidency Golf Club' for their unwavering support for our cause and for facilitating our community engagement efforts during the golf tournament.
While seeking treatment in Mumbai, patient families often report feeling disoriented by the sheer size of the city. Many families find that the city's patient housing facilities become more like a second home, and they form bonds with other families who are also undergoing treatment. Because of the kind loving care, the ties are more robust.
We at V Care are extremely appreciative of the opportunity that the Rotary Club of Mumbai has extended to us to spend time at the Rotary MHADA Dharamshala, a patient housing facility, where we are able to engage in a wide variety of enjoyable and therapeutic activities with more than twenty families residing there. To top it all off, some caregivers are ecstatic that they can still draw, paint, or do puzzles after all these years, and they're grateful for the opportunity to relax and unwind.
Being in a nurturing environment always aids in the recovery process.
Sometimes we just bump into certain people and suddenly they become a part of our journey.
V Care has been conducting programmes to raise awareness about cancer for all kinds of people across all ages. One such programme was at Nate in Ratnagiri.
We are grateful to Nate Nagar Vidya Mandir for giving us the opportunity to interact with more than 250 students. It can be hard to start a conversation about cancer, but it's important to do so in order to raise awareness.
These talks with "Gen Z" are important and can lead to action because their voice can empower many people, both inside and outside of the community where they belong.
You will be truly missed.
Rest in peace.
The root of joy is gratefulness and that energy is contagious.
V Care is excited for the collaboration with Kolhapur Cancer Centre in initiating the very 1st support group meeting. Paalvi--a support group has been formed for patients, survivors and caregivers.
Sometimes quietly listening is a strong form of communication; creating space, giving attention and validating someone else is more valuable than anything we could ever say.
We had people from different walks of life during this meeting who shared their journey from diagnosis to cure along with those who are currently undergoing treatment. Engaging in therapeutic exchanges such as these have more optimistic outlook towards treatment and this further helps them in coping with the disease.
Thank you for being the light in the too often dim world.
Congratulations to the 51 stunningly beautiful women from all walks of life who came together to walk down the ramp for Shaina NC at the Creative Arts Festival show in support of V Care to raise awareness about cancer at the Taj Lands End, Bandra!
You are all rare gems with beautiful souls who believe in kindness as a way of life. V Care is very thankful and grateful for your support.
Many congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Sudeep Gupta in his new role as Director, Tata Memorial Centre.
As one of V Care's trustees, Dr. Gupta has been a guiding force in shaping the organization in future direction and we are very grateful for his support.
'It's all about who stands in the rain with you when they could be dry if they wanted to'
Caregivers are an integral part of a patients treatment journey. November is celebrated as Caregivers Month and we want to thank all of them for everything they do.
AMR, Antimicrobial Resistance; the silent killer.
Consulting our family/treating doctor/physician before popping that antibiotic or any medication is the need of the hour to understand the adverse reactions that this will have on our health.
Let us be aware and make others around us aware too.

Being inclusive!
The goal of 'Right to Forget' is to make sure that former cancer patients who have successfully recovered do not face barriers or stigma because of cancer in their future. Equal opportunity is a fundamental human right and they deserve the same. It is a must to have cancer survivor's complete inclusion in society after treatment, particularly access to jobs, healthcare, education, and insurance. A recovered patient shouldn't face any discrimination after they've made a full recovery.
The treatment's potential for delayed adverse effects can be managed if and when they manifest. Is it necessary to deny patients their rights while they wait for the alleged consequences to set in? Because of their favourable prognosis and low recurrence risk, certain malignancies may be evaluated sooner after therapy ends. Because cancer is a chronic disease, insurance companies should cover it just like they cover hepatitis C and HIV.
The number of people living after a cancer diagnosis has been increasing in the last 30 years or so. Then there is the rising incidence of newly diagnosed cancer cases. Moreover, better cancer therapies and earlier diagnoses will increase the size of this population. Approximately 94% to 98% of patients with testicular or thyroid cancer are cured within a year after diagnosis, these cancers are more like chronic conditions than terminal diagnoses, so it is acceptable to overlook them while considering resources.
(As of 2016) a few European nations, including France. (As of the year 2020) Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands Medical records pertaining to cancers that happened more than, say, 5 or 10 years after the conclusion of the therapy programme without recurrence will be erased in Portugal and Romania in 2020. Can we assume that Indian cancer survivors will welcome the chance to participate in the Right to Forget. It will help if the survivor label is put behind and an environment for equal opportunity created.
Like every storm runs out of rain similarly every disease runs out of its course.

Happy Diwali!
Taking a chance is the only way to find out how good something really is, and the Indian Cancer Congress at Jio World Convention Centre offered just that with their theme 'Continuum of Care in Cancer'.
It was a great chance to network with experts in the medical field, industry partners and patient organisations from all around the world. Fertility, s*x, and psychological assistance were some of the topics that sparked lively and in-depth discussion.
Our Founder, Vandana Gupta, emphasized the importance of the 'right to forget,' or the desire to shed the label of "cancer survivor" post successful completion of treatment in her panel discussions. It was encouraging to hear from doctors and other specialists about how crucial the role of patient organisations is in cancer care.
A big thank you to Indian Cancer Congress , Mice Ideas and RajeshSharma for this opportunity.

Health Literacy Month is observed in October.
V Care is appreciative for the initiative of Lymphoma Coalition for inviting our CEO Jyoti Patil Shah to speak on Health Literacy impacting on system level and patient care at their Global Summit in Madrid, Spain.
Health literacy means knowing how the healthcare system works. It is about taking medications as directed, being able to give informed consent during treatment, and adopting preventative measures .
It helps in maximizing survival and making informed decisions about one’s health.
The most interesting parts of the meeting were the patient stories. Only when patient populations are included in discussions with those establishing health literacy policies will there be effective. Sharing encouraging cancer patient stories during an awareness campaign is a great way to call attention to the importance of reducing social stigma of cancer.
It aids in communicating the idea that cancer need not be feared if one is provided with adequate resources and support. There are many needs, but progress will be made only if the steps are towards the right direction
Being involved together to make a difference is always appreciated.
V Care Foundation is grateful to M. P. Shah Women's College of Arts and Commerce (SNDT, Matunga) for joining hands with us in spreading awareness and breaking barriers in cancer care by getting their student community involved.
No matter how modest, your contribution will make a difference in the world.
Pink represents caring, warmth, and sensitivity. It symbolises hope and compassion. Breast cancer, one of the most common types of cancer in women, is symbolically represented by the colour pink, it is easily detectable and treatable.
The month of October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Being vigilant and being aware of any changes in your breast can aid in early detection.
is India's biggest festival of giving. Celebrated every year from October 2nd to the 8th.
During , Indian Oil is a devoted partner, generously providing the use of their gas stations in a variety of locations to organisations working in the social sector. V Care appreciates the opportunity extended every year. This year, we teamed up with Kini's Causeway Petrol Pump in Bandra West to raise awareness about . With the support of Mr. Anish, the manager and his staff, we were able to reach over 150 people by distributing our bags with preventive information pamphlets to consumers who were filling up fuel at their fuel station.
Each day we are presented with a new possibility; let's embrace kindness.
For the greater good, V Care Foundation is glad to have collaborated with The Cherian Foundation for hair wigs under their initiative 'Gift Hair Gift Confidence'.
