Tea is the world’s most consumed drink, after water.
How tea came into existence?
There is no better way to start our day than with the pleasant taste and aroma of tea. Legend has it that tea was first discovered over 4000 years ago in China by Emperor Nun Shen. On one of his visits to a remote region, the leaves of a nearby tree blew into a pot of boiling water which his servants had placed over a fire. The refreshing aroma invited the Emperor to taste the beverage, and the first cup of tea was born.
Other than its taste and benefits, tea’s contributions to culture and socioeconomic development are just as relevant. Grown in over 35 countries, the cultivation of tea supports the livelihoods of over 13 million people.
International Tea Day celebrates the health benefits, economic importance, and cultural heritage of tea, all the while ensuring a more sustainable production from fields to our cups.

A pseudocereal -Quinoa is a fantastic source of protein for vegetarians. A quarter cup of cooked quinoa contains more than six grams of protein, which is more than the protein in any other grain and as much as one gets by consuming meat.
Quinoa is also gluten-free, has high level of antioxidants — mainly vitamin E — and is rich in B vitamins, folic acid, calcium, potassium, iron, copper and magnesium. It is also free of cholesterol and trans fats.

Instead of enjoying the Sun, most of the North India is undergoing a severe cold spell.

The beautiful green translucent fruit amla derives its origin from the Sanskrit word ‘Amalaki’ that translates to the nectar of life.
Known for its immense health benefits in Ayurveda for thousands of years, this super fruit is garnering fame across the globe for all the right reasons.
This inexpensive yet humble fruit is a super immunity builder loaded with fiber, copper, manganese, potassium, Vitamin C, B5, and B6, and antioxidants.
A quick easy recipe my aunt shared with me yesterday.
I tried the recipe using aroung 250gm amala.
Steam the amalas so that they are soft and remove seeds.
Take one tea spoon of oil in a pan add little sauff, a small piece of cinnamon, little black pepper, red chilli powder, salt add the amala slices along with gaur or jaggery sugar.
(I just added all the ingredients by approximation)
Let the mixture cook on low flame keep stirring at intervals till it gets thick in consistency.
It was ready in 12-15 min.
Easy fast and nutritious.
Enjoy with your meals all the time.
Haldi needs no introduction in Indian cooking.
Haldi is also revered as Aryuvedic medicine for boosting immunity and for having anti inflammatory properties. Drinking haldi tea helps in weight loss. ( Recipe shared in my earlier post)
Are you sure the haldi you are using,is pure?
There is a simple plam test to check its purity.
Take pinch of haldi on your palm. Rub it with thumb of another hand for 30sec.
If haldi powder is pure most of it will stick to your palm and will leaves deep colour on your palm.
If adulterated most of it will fall when you turn your hand upside down.
Best solution is to use in its purest form.
’ Kachi Haldi’ can be grated and used in cooking vegetables.
Paste can also be made and stored in glass jar.
Paste is easy to use for curries and with warm milk.
We all have indulged in kaju katlis, soan papdis, chaats, pizza, pasta and fried dishes during the Diwali festivities.
