People can post images & videos of beauty,meetings,events,news,programs,or any things. Pimpri-Chinchwad is a city in the Pune district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It consists of the twin towns of Pimpri and Chinchwad which are governed by a common municipal body (the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation or PCMC). It is located to the North-West of Pune and is well connected to the Pune city proper via the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway. History:
Main localities in Pimpri Chinchwad are Chinchwad, Pimpri, Nigdi, Akurdi and Bhosari. The name Chinch-wad is derived from trees Chinch (tamarind) and Wad (banyan). Chinchwad is famous for Saint Morya Gosavi’s Shrine which is one of the lord Ganesha’s shaktipeeth in Maharashtra state. Due to the flooding of river Pavana every year the temple gets submerged in the river water. Local people consider it as bathing of lord ganesha. Chinchwad is also the birthplace of great freedom fighters Chaphekar brothers. Pimpri Chinchwad is home to the historic town of Bhosari originally known as Bhojapuri. Two thousand years ago it was the capital of legendary Hindu king Bhoj. During the period of Mahabharata this city was known as Bhojakata, the capital of the Bhoja-Yadava king Rukmi. It is mentioned in Mahabharata that Bhojakata lied to the west of Kundinapuri, the capital of Vidarbha Kingdom. PCMC in recent time:
1) 2013: PCMC bagged JNNURM award for Best Performing City
2) 2012: PCMC becomes the first municipal corporation in the county to get an ISO 9001-2008 certification
3) Dr.Shrikar Keshav Pardeshi (IAS) appointed as PCMC commissioner, the man credited with the crackdown on illegal constructions and many more citizen welfare activities. Grievance system, Helpline projects are among other good projects he commenced since he took charge.
4) Raajev Jadhav appointed as PCMC Commissioner from May 2014.
5) PCMC got 'Best City ward 2014' on July 2014.
