In spine surgery, timing of intervention is most important. Many spinal conditions give excellent results and good outcome if surgery is done at right time.

OPLL is one of them.

OPLL (Opacified Posterior Longitudinal Ligament) is a condition where abnormal calcium/ bone gets deposited in the space for spinal cord which in turn leads to compression of spinal cord leading to variety of symptoms like imbalance while walking, difficulty in carrying out fine activities like buttoning shirt, typing, writing, signing etc. Left untreated, it can gradually lead to permanent disability.

Sharing an interesting case of a 30 year old gentleman, who underwent similar surgery and had good outcome after surgery.
