What is Bail in Indian Penal code

Under the Indian Penal Code, bail is governed by Sections 436 to 450 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The provisions of the Indian Penal Code provide the legal framework for granting bail to an accused person.

Section 436 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, provides that a person accused of a bailable offense shall be released on bail, unless the court sees reasonable grounds for believing that the accused will not appear for trial or will commit further offenses while on bail.

Section 437 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, provides for the grant of bail in non-bailable offenses, subject to certain conditions.
