Art History Lecture w/ Jason Arkles - Andrea del Verrocchio ⚜️ A few months ago, sculptor and art historian Jason Arkles delivered the first part of a lecture series discussing the evolution of composition through the history of figurative sculpture. In this video art history lecture, we explore the early Renaissance advances in sculpture at the hands of Andrea del Verrocchio, diving into the earliest multi-figural works of the Renaissance and the push toward sculpture as a representation of human experience. Every July the FAA Summer Faculty exhibit a collection of work in the FAA Gallery! It is always a fantastic opportunity for the summer students to see the artworks of their instructors and discuss how the methods they are learning can be applied to works outside of an academic setting! Thank you to all who attended the exhibition and to our faculty for providing such wonderful works to show! ⚜️
A special thank you to FAA Principal Instructor Tanvi Pathare for once again organizing such a successful exhibition!

“Having an authentic passion might just be what sets your work apart. So, I think it’s really important to know and celebrate what you bring to the table. This commission allowed me to combine my fascination with collective memory with my love for research and need for creativity. Declarations cast in bronze are not made permanent by their medium, and there exists a highly contentious space between public desire for commemoration and actual monuments that have validated particular political, historical, cultural, and social perspectives.” – Poppy Field, .field

Moments from our recent workshop “Masters of Line” on copper-plate line-etching with FAA Founder and master etcher Daniel Graves ! A major objective of the course is for students to learn how to transform their drawings made from life into the medium of etching- with days for drawing from life built into the curriculum- both outside drawing the natural and urban landscapes of Florence, or working directly from a model! ⚜️
