Joiri Minaya’s multidisciplinary approach invites us to navigate the complexities of identity, multicultural spaces, and hierarchies.
Her work challenges historical and contemporary representations of black and brown womanhood, exploring the concept of an imagined tropical identity from a decolonial perspective.
‘Container’ is a photo series featuring women in man-made natural looking environments, encased in bodysuits with stereotypical tropical prints, both absorbing her into “nature” and making her artificial. These pictures are a captivating exploration of in betweenness, inviting us to question and redefine conventional narratives.

Galleria Anna Marra is proud to communicate that Andrés Anza has been awarded with the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2024 for the piece ‘I only know what I have seen.’

Presented for the first time in Europe within Andrés Anza solo show at Galleria Anna Marra (April - May 2023), the life-sized totemic ceramic conjures both plant and animal forms.
Assembled in five parts, the work is constructed from refractory clay and features a dynamic composition which appears to twist, turn and fold in on itself.
Thousands of tiny, spiked protrusions covering the work’s surface lend it a further amorphic quality.
After the work was fired in a kiln to give an even surface, acrylic paint was applied.
This monochromatic finish allows light and shadow to further emphasize the work’s highly textured surface.

Andrés Anza winning piece ‘I only know what I have seen’, along with all finalist works, is on display at Palais de Tokyo in Paris until June 9th, 2024.

Capturing the soul of contemporary Africa, Adegboyega Adesina’s ‘A Quiet Time’ invites us into a world where rich color meets dynamic personality.
Adesina delves deep into Nigeria’s heart, exploring its culture, traditions, and the echoes of colonialism and digitization. His intimate portraits challenge our perceptions, going beyond skin to reveal the intricate layers that make up the modern African experience.
He combines his love for realism (the realism of his portraits is due to his excellent knowledge on human anatomy, holding a Bsc degree of Human Physiology) with imaginative elements in his visually compelling portraits. Bringing to life ideas grounded in both experimentation and creative exploration, Adesina continues to stretch himself artistically to inspire future generations of artists, blending syncretically his personal and autobiographical dimension with a wider reflection on contemporary issues his Country is facing, raising the former to a valence of universality.
