Your Alps! Your Future! Your Ideas! The EU Strategy for the Alpine Region is looking for the ideas of the youth to shape the Alpine Region of the future.
Young people between 18 and 29 who live in one of the 48 EUSALP regions in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland or Liechtenstein can apply to join the EUSALP Youth Council until 15 May 2024. Four young people from each of the seven Alpine countries – and thus a total of 28 young people – will get the chance to participate in the implementation of the EUSALP for one year.
Since a maximum of half of the Youth Councillors can renew their mandate for one year, this year 20 places for new members are available.

The EUSALP Youth Council kicks off the year 2024 with a working meeting in Liechtenstein. 🇱🇮🏔️
This weekend, from January 12 to 14, we will be working on our projects and meeting with local organizations in Liechtenstein. 🤝📝
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Office for Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein for their financial support, which makes the organization of this meeting possible. 💚
If you’re around, join us on Saturday afternoon! 🤝
🇪🇺🤝✅Here is an example of how the EUSALP Youth Council is involved in EUSALP activities.⬇️
In 2022, the ARPAF III "Made in the Alps" project team contacted the EUSALP Youth Council in order to co-construct a method that would enable them to involve young people in the project.
As soon as the project was drafted, the young people were able to comment on the proposed methodology and make recommendations. One of the aims of the project was to conduct interviews on products made in the Alps. The audience of young citizens of the Alpine region was important for this research, as consumers of the future.
To interview young people, the best solution was to train other young people to carry out the interviews so that they could interview those around them.💡🧠
Training courses were therefore offered to EUSALP Y.C members who volunteered for this project. In order to facilitate the training sessions, the trainers were flexible. They offered the training in several short sessions, they spread the training out according to each person's availability and they used digital tools.
Once the training had been completed, the young people were able to conduct interviews and pass on the results to the project team.
The members of the youth council were then invited to project events to contribute their ideas and opinions.
At the face-to-face meeting of the Youth Council in Lausanne, a team of film-makers came to produce a short film for the project. The aim was to hear what the members of the Youth Council had to say about Alpine products and the memories or sensations they associate with the Alpine region.
You can find the video on our Youtube channel.
Special thanks to the "Made In the Alps" project team for their real skills in involving young people and for the trust they had in the EUSALP Youth Council.

Last week, we attended the EUSALP annual forum, which marked the end of the Swiss presidency in 2023. 🗓️🇨🇭
A delegation from the Youth Council actively participated in the program of this significant event for EUSALP. Youth participation took various forms, including:
- Representation in thematic roundtable discussions. 💬
- Speaking at the EUSALP 2023 General Assembly. 🎤
- Engaging in discussions with political representatives from Alpine regions present in Bad-Ragaz. 🍸🗣️
This kind of official event, which can be likened to a political summit for the Alpine region, provides young people with a better understanding of the intricacies of politics and international relations. 🌍🤝🇪🇺
As demonstrated by the event organizers, politics within the framework of a macro-regional strategy of the European Commission offers an opportunity to convey messages throughout the Alpine region. To achieve this, it is essential to use the right tools, strike the right tone, maintain balance in one's statements, and ensure precision to confirm that the message has been effectively transmitted. 📣✉️
Once these principles are put into practice, what message would you share with the other members of EUSALP? 🤔🏔️

As part of the European project "COWORCare. Coworking with children&elderly in the Alps", the UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan is launching a map to map, in the rural and mountain areas of the Alps, the spaces of coworking, coworkation and coworcare, and the private care institutes surrounding them in a radius of 10km.
The project is aimed at families and women working in the mountain and rural areas of the EUSALP area to support parenthood and the care of dependent elderly relatives to improve the quality of working life and reduce commuting.
The COWORCare map was conceived as a participatory and constantly evolving tool based on a citizen science approach: anyone navigating it can suggest new spaces or care institutions by clicking on "create a new space"; the space will be published on the map after careful verification by the UNIMONT team that it is consistent with project objectives. The map is in an experimental phase at the moment: during this period, mapping operations will continue, and user feedback will be collected.
If you are a coworker, run a coworking space or a private care institution, or are interested in coworking and coworkation, we need your help: take part in the survey and help us improve the map.
For more information, see the project's homepage, which includes a glossary of terms for better understanding.

Let’s introduce Maxime Bernard who represented France and the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes during the last 2 years in the Y.C ⛰️🇫🇷
Maxime is always on the move. He seizes every opportunity that crosses his path. Especially those related to mobility, transport and cross-border cooperation. He is really good at this and will surely have an impact in this field when he graduates.
Finally, Maxime will certainly take a lot of memories and skills from his experience in the EUSALP Youth Council. It is certain that he will keep an eye on the further activities of EUSALP Youth
You can share your message to Maxime in comments ⬇️ ✒️
Today two members of the EUSALP Youth Council participated in the EUSALP Executive Board meeting in Fribourg 🇨🇭🏔️🇪🇺
The young people had received the working documents in advance so that they could contribute to the discussions. They also reacted to the method proposed by the Swiss presidency in order to involve them as effectively as possible. 📑📚✒️
All the members of the Youth Council will be able to discuss the output of this EB meeting at the internal meeting in Strasbourg in April. 📆🚞

Let’s introduce Thomas Wimmer who represented Germany and the Bavaria region during the last 2 years in the Y.C 🇩🇪 ⛰️
Without Thomas the first two years of the EUSALP Youth Council would have been much less effective and organized! All members will agree that he is greatly responsible for the development of the EUSALP youth council. 🙏🏼 💪🏼
Perhaps he is passionate about volunteering? Maybe he really likes long train rides to long technical meetings? Maybe he has a twin that allows him to be twice as productive? 🤔 👬
Our guess is that he is proud to have grown up in the Alpine region, that he wants to share this Alpine identity and that he doesn't want to see his region develop without taking into account his vision and the issues he cares about! ❤️
You can share you message to Thomas in comments ⬇️ ✒️
Thank you gros!
We continue with Achille Ribeyron who represented France and the SUD-PACA region during the last 2 years in the Y.C. 🇫🇷 🏖️
What to say about Achilles! He loves adventure, making memories with other members and making things complicated because otherwise it's not so fun 😜
We remember that he allowed us to celebrate together the second place of United Kingdom at the EUROVISION 2022. 👏🏼 🇬🇧
Well, you got it! Achille is the kind of guy you can count on when you need him! It's really important in a group so thanks for everything! ❤️

We start with Ludovica Spanevello who represented Italy and the Veneto region during the last 2 years in the Y.C. 🔥
In our eyes Ludovica is a powerful woman who generates actions. She is inspiring and she doesn't realize it enough! 💪🏻
In the following post, we will make some brief introductions of the Youth Council members who will be leaving after two years in office.
To ensure continuity, members have the possibility to extend their mandate for another year. At the end of the 2 years they have to leave their place to a new youth councilor.
In the EUSALP Youth Council they have been able to live many experiences such as:
📅 participating in events
💭 meeting together and thinking about projects
💡 bringing their ideas to the decision makers of the Alpine region
🔝 contributing to the development of youth participation in EUSALP
The new application period for the Youth Council will open soon! Stay tuned!
Since 5️⃣ years, the participation of young people in the EU strategy for the Alpine region is growing thanks to the project youth.shaping. 🏔️🇪🇺
Concrete results are appearing and we are not aware of all the changes this is triggering.
There is still progress to be made and more effort to be put into this work.
We are looking towards the horizon with a lot of ideas and motivation for youth involvement in the Alpine region.
