Ever wondered what sensory dysregulation is all about? It’s when the body feels off-balance due to sensory experiences in its environment. These experiences encompass sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, proprioception, interoception, and vestibular senses. Considering all 8 senses is crucial when aiming to regulate a child’s sensory system.

Sensory dysregulation can manifest as either too much or too little sensory stimulation in a child’s surroundings. Since every child is unique, sensory dysregulation may show up differently in each case.

Let’s take a closer look at each sense:

👃 Smell: Foods, odors, nature, pleasant/unpleasant scents
