A Day Etched in Memory: Bouncing Back with God’s Intervention

I cannot forget the 25th day of June 2024—a day permanently etched in my memory.

Amid the heat of the Genzee protests, we occupied Parliament! But what followed was a bloodbath, a harrowing experience broadcasted live on Kenyan TV and global media outlets. Yet, what unfolded away from the public eye was even more devastating: state-sponsored goons descended upon businesses along Moi Avenue, Ronald Ngala Street, and other avenues within Nairobi's CBD.

I watched helplessly on CCTV as they vandalized our premises. They got to shop F82, Sir Winstone Stores—the very place where I bake my bread and butter it therein too. With reckless abandon, they destroyed everything. Our staff called me in panic and shock, but by God’s grace, I remained composed and calm—a gift the Lord has generously bestowed upon me ad libitum.

The following morning, at the crack of dawn, Prince video-called me from the shop. It was a crime scene. We had lost everything. Yet, we didn’t lose hope or the will to keep moving forward. A few days later, one of our staff members was involved in a road accident. She suffered a fractured ankle, though thankfully it wasn’t broken. She couldn’t report to work, and I granted her compassionate leave to recover at home.

I was spiraling from one misfortune to another. Just before the accident, the same staff member had been detained by county council officers at City Hall, where they threatened her with imprisonment. I had to make a payment to secure her release. It truly felt like the darkest hour.

But as they say, it’s darkest just before dawn. I didn't know twilight looks so bright and beautiful. At this lowest point, the sun rose upon us with rays of hope and rejuvenation. From the heavens above, God showered us with immense blessings. I have seen the floodgates of heaven open, the very ones I used to read about.

I am glad to announce that Sir Winstone Stores is now fully stocked and back in business as if we never left. Our stock has grown astronomically, defying the naysayers and ill-wishers. We are now second to none.
