Naltrexone Implants are small pellets that are easily inserted under the skin under a Local Anaesthetic which is administered first to make the procedure painless. Once in place, naltrexone implants slowly release the naltrexone medication, which blocks the effects of opiates and alcohol for between three to four months.

In simple terms, naltrexone reduces your craving for alcohol and opiates. It also eliminates the euphoria (high) one gets after consuming alcohol.

The implant insertion is a fairly simple and painless procedure that lasts approximately 5 minutes.

Working on one's fitness is a lifelong process. Fitness is not a destination. Fitness is a journey. Day by day, step by step. The goal is consistency, not perfection. I am as imperfect as the next person. But I chose to work on being a better version of me daily.
ION, I have learnt that the worst mistake a runner can make is to use an old pair of sneakers to run. Any pair that has done more than 500 kilometres belongs in the dust bin. Let's have an injury free year.

I have endured many injuries in my quest for fitness, ranging from a right hip injury (ilio-psoas muscle tear), Left knee injury, Lower back injury, bilateral wrist injuries and a Left Achilles Tendon Tear. Some of these have kept me off the trails for months. It is the last one that proved to be the mother of all Injuries- a partially torn Left Achilles Tendon.
I am grateful to run my first painless 5km in over 3 months. Running is one of the greatest blessings in my life. Light and love to you all ✨❤️. Let's have a fit and injury-free 2022.

The run... 👉👉... The grind. It was a beautiful morning hill run. The high: the feeling of my endurance building back. The low: the snail pace on the upward steep 😉😂😂. There is room for improvement.

My first brisk walk in . It was more of an exploratory expedition. Trying to craft a new 5km running track. The terrain here is hilly, rough and tough. This kind of terrain may negatively impact my pace, but I have to put in the miles.

Not a bad morning road run. I think the deadlifting yesterday paid off a few dividends in terms of improved pace & cadence. My target still remains 4:20 min/km 🙏🙏.
Today was another leg day- after the run. There are 7 broad types of squats:
1) Bodyweight Squat
2) Dumbbell Split Squat
3) Goblet Squat
4) Braced Squat
5) Barbell Front Squat (tough one 👈)
6) Jumping Squat
7) Pistol Squat
Squatting has it's benefits. These include:
a) Building & Strengthening your Glutes (Butt Muscles) and Quadriceps.
b) Reducing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
c) Strengthening your core muscles.
d) Crushing calories (fat loss).
e) Enhancing athletic performance.
Vary your squats for optimal results. Go get it champions 💪💪✌.

The run that was... Runs, squats and deadlifts constitute 70% of my workouts.
Dead-lifting? Yes. Deadlifting is a compound exercise that engages many muscle groups throughout the human body. The beauty of the deadlift is that you can perform it anywhere, anytime.
These are some of the well known benefits of deadlifting:
1. Increasing Core Strength.
2. Increasing Core Stability.
3. Ramping up the basal metabolic rate. (it's a calorie burner).
4. Improving posture- keeping shoulders, spine and hips aligned.
5. Training most of the leg, lower back and core muscles for enhanced athletic performance.
The deadlift improves your cardio endurance and jumping performance. It stimulates testosterone hormone production and effectively reduces sarcopenia (loss of muscle bulk & power) in older adults. Sarcopenia is correlated with physical disability & poor quality of life.

That was a Glorious Saturday Morning Road Run ✌. In a sense, getting used to pain and fatigue is a blessing. When the pain diminishes, it's all systems green 💯.
Tip of the Day: "The Runner's High." Towards the end of a long run, the pituitary gland in the brain releases a group of "happy hormones" known as endorphins. Endorphin release is responsible for the euphoria (feel-good state) experienced after long distance running, s*x, or**sm and when eating fine chocolate 😍❤.

Endorphin release also suppresses pain (analgesia). The word endorphin is a contraction of "endogenous morphine". Endorphins are naturally produced opioid neuropeptides and opioid hormones.
