For short term goals - plant rice but for long term goals -plant trees. Today we led a tree planting exercise at Nyamsenda dispensary and Nyamsenda assistant chief's compound in Ugenya sub county in commemoration of the national tree planting day. Over the next 5yrs, the organization will distribute 50,000 trees and fruit trees to our beneficiaries as our contribution towards the 15billion trees target by govt by 2032

UCAHAEC will be supporting Legal Aid Clinic, anyone who needs legal redress on matters limited to GBV/SGBV during our FREE Legal Aid Clinic on 28th September 2023. This will be done at Sihay chief's camp(East Ugenya) and Ratado chief's camp(West Ugenya) on the same day. Lawyers will guide you through your case at no cost and they will be able to identify cases for FREE probono presentation. COME ONE,COME ALL!!

Striga w**d commonly known as "hayongo" still remains a hurdle to food security in Nyanza regions, making it impossible to get a good harvest from their farms. In partnership with Toothpick Company we are conducting sensitization on Striga management and promotion of drought resistance crops for Food security in Ugenya sub county.

We conducted a session with Young girls at Bar Odar Secondary school on menstruation and menstrual hygiene management and Gender based Violence.

Menstrual health is a human right, and periods are a normal part of human biology. Yet, menstruation can result in discrimination & exclusion of women & girls.

Let's all do our part to end the stigma around menstruation. Period.

Delayed justice has been a menace in the fight against Gender based Violence. Prosecution and sanctioning of these cases remains very low. What do you think could be the problem? And how do you think this affects the GBV survivors?

Vertical bag farming is a high-yielding food security technology that requires a small space to maximise on land and also increase water efficiency. In collaboration with Real IPM , we managed to train our volunteers on smart farming techniques. The team was trained on how to install vertical bags.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has proven to be safe and effective in reducing HIV acquisition risk. However, PrEP awareness and usage is still low among young people. Our peer educators had an opportunity to represent UCAHAEC at a PrEP learning and experience sharing training in Siaya, together with our partners Mildmay KENYA and TheGlobcom . The 5 days learning and experience sharing training aimed at providing them with knowledge on the new emerging guidelines for PreP awareness and acquisition.

Do you have a situation or know someone who needs some legal redress , Ucahaec invites you for a free legal aid clinic on Friday 31st March 2023 Sega Assistant Chief - Ugenya NG- CDF compound . Lawyers will be available to guide you through your cases . GBV Cases that meet the threshold for probono representation will be identified and taken up by the lawyers at no costs.
NOTE: Cases are not limited to GBV only..

We work closely with GBV survivors through their journey of healing, with a focus of creating safe peer to peer spaces for healing through the GBV support groups and mentorship sessions, where they share their experiences, challenges and come up with solutions that will help them live stigma free. Education plays a major role in human development. When young people are educated, then their communities grow strong and prosper.
Through our S/HE is back to LIFE program we return young people back to school. We believe that education is the key to community empowerment.

The best way to pull or enforce community reforms is through the young people's voices.

One of UCAHAEC service delivery areas for this year is community empowerment on agripreneurship for wealth creation. Today we held our first training on HASS avocado farming.

We had community dialogue sessions with community members from Ukwala Ward. These dialogue forums create an opportunity for exchanging information and perspectives, clarifying viewpoints, and developing solutions to on how to handle Gender Based Violence Cases in the our communities.

16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence launch in Siaya county.

Our team well represented in the Organization Development System Strengthening (ODSS) training in Kisumu courtesy of Kenya Red Cross Society. The ODSS training aims at strengthening both Institutional and Programming capacity of local organizations for greater impact of their actions to the communities they serve.
