This is a special announcement!
Alixplorer is wishing to organize an unforgettable adventure to visit the island of Svalbard/Sptizbergen, where you are closer to the north pole than anywhere else.
It is the largest island among a set of islands lying about midway between the northern cost of Norway and the north pole, near the arctic circle, surrounded by the arctic ocean and the Barents sea.
It is the only place on earth that anyone can visit it from any country without VISA, however a Schengen VISA is always required for connections in Norway's mainland.
The city of Longyearbyen is the largest human settlement there with around 3000 residents. In 2008, the "doomsday" global seed vault was build in Longyearbyen.
Requirement:
- Schengen VISA multiple entries for connections in Norway's airports (Oslo/Tromso) and/or other EU country.
- Ability to support the hardness of arctic weather
- Spirit of adventure
Expected activities:
- Tour around Longyearbyen
- Visit to global seed vault (*)
- Hiking and Climbing in mountains and glaciers
- Exploring wilderness of the region (arctic fox, polar bear,...)
- Dogsledding
- Snowmobile safari
- Visit by boat to the town Ny-Alesund (*)

Our next event will be hiking from Qohmez to Afqa, Sunday 6 November 2022.

The 13Km trail will be completely in the outskirts between the 2 towns in Jubail (Byblos) district Qohmez and Afqa.

The region is about 71 kilometres (44 mi) northeast of Beirut, it has an average elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level and a total land area of 934 hectares.

More details about the trail will be posted later in the Discussions section on FB page.

- Level: 5 to 6 Moderate
- Walking distance : roughly 13 km
- Transportation by comfortable Pullman
- Main Meeting Point: Beirut, Furn-e-Chebbak, near Univeriste la Sagesse
- We will pick up people willing to join on the way
- Fees: 400,000LBP (include transportation and local guiding but not medical insurance)
- Do not miss to bring your ID/passport, insurance card, …
- We will stop on the way for breakfast

- Comfortable shoes suitable for outdoor or hiking shoes

Hiking in Chahtoul

Dear All,

Our upcoming event will be hiking in Chahtoul region, Sunday 30 October 2022.

Chahtoul is a town in Keserouan District, located 32 kilometers north of Beirut. Its average elevation is 920 meters above sea level and its total land area is 290 hectares.

Our 15Km trail will start from the forest of Martyrs' cedars passing by St. Stephan church down to pass by old houses, then we will continue to a monastery to reach the cross. After that we will head to camping Chahtoul then to Notre-Dame church after finishing by making a loop back to Martyrs' forest overlooking Mchati and Jabal-Moussa. We will enjoy the fall of tree leaves during this period of the year.

Hiking Chabrouh-Faraya, sunday 25 september

Dear friends,
We are pleased to invite you to join us in our upcoming hiking event in Chabrouh, Mount Lebanon on Sunday 25 September.

We will start near the Lady-of-Resurrection downward to LMT section where we will pass by 2 waterfalls and one bridge till reaching Chabrouh river, then we move upward passing between rocks and plants till reaching Chabrouh dam where we will perform a loop around the dam to end in the main entrance. Total walking distance is roughly 14Km and can be extended more. There will be 2 exit points on 5Km and on 9Km.

Date: Sunday, 25 September 2022

Main Meeting Point: Sagesse University, Furn-e-Chebbak, Beirut at 7:00am

We can pick up people waiting on the way.

Total walking distance: 14Km

Level: 5-6 Medium

Total walking time: roughly 5 to 6 hours including breaks

Round-Trip about 3 hours by a comfortable pullman

Do not forget to bring at least 2L of water, your ID/passport and insurance card and wear suitable shoes for hiking.

Dear friends,

Our upcoming event will be on sunday, sep 11, a touristic trip to M'leeta, Jezzine and Maghdoucheh.

Itinerary:

- Rendez-vous at main meeting point near Sagesse university at 6:45, departure at 7:00.

- Stop for breakfast on the way.

- Guided visit to M'leeta touristic landmark.

- Tour in Jezzine: saydet-el-maabour, waterfall, square, souk, naba'-el-azzibeh,...

- Lunch in Jezzine (*).

- Visit to saydet-el-Mantara in Maghdoucheh.

- Return to Beirut, at 18:00-18:15.

Fees:
400,000 LBP including transportation by comfortable pullman, entrance to landmark, guiding... but does not cover lunch and insurance.

Notes:
- Always keep your personal ID, driving license or passport with you and your insurance card as well.

- (*) Regarding lunch, we can discuss later or during the trip and can change the expected time for lunch. You can bring your lunch with you and/or visit local restaurants and request "à la carte"...
