Hashimoto & Weight: What is the link? 👀

☑️As Hashimoto’s causes hypothyroidism, this directly affects your metabolism and slows it down. Anything you eat will be processed slowly by your body, leading to weight gain over time.

✅An efficient way to lose weight with Hashimoto’s disease is to reduce sugar in your diet, as too much can lead to weight gain and inflammation.

✅As your body may burn fewer calories than you consume, it’s important to have a balanced diet.
Foods to eat

Some recommendations:
☑️Consume lean proteins: Eggs, beef, seafood, and poultry

☑️Eat non-dairy fermented foods: Apple cider vinegar

☑️Eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables: Kale, broccoli, cabbage & fresh fruits

☑️Green tea

☑️Sulfur-rich vegetables: Garlic, leeks, onions

‼️Limited amounts of honey, fruits, and maple syrup

Foods to avoid

‼️There is no specific diet proven to treat everyone with Hashimoto’s. An individualized approach to nutrition is necessary.

Soaked Almonds

🔸Almonds are a popular snack that’s rich in many nutrients, including fiber and healthy fats.

🔸They’re also an excellent source of vitamin E, which protects your cells from damage.

‼️While many people enjoy them raw or roasted, you may wonder why others prefer to soak them before eating.

✅It increases your absorption of certain nutrients
✅It facilitates their digestion
✅It decreases phytic acid & tannins
✅It enhances antioxidants
✅Some people may prefer the taste and texture

How to soak almonds ? 💦

✅Place almonds in a bowl, add enough warm tap water to fully cover them, and sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of salt for every 1 cup (140 grams) of nuts.

✅Cover the bowl and let it sit on your countertop overnight, or for 8–12 hours.

✅Drain and rinse.

✅Use a clean paper towel to dry almonds.

✅The soaked nuts can be eaten immediately.
