UCSC Alumni Association

The University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) hosted an Insight Day on 24th June 2024, aimed at helping recent A/L students explore the opportunities within the IT industry. The UCSC Alumni Association played a significant role in the event, sharing personal stories of their academic and professional journeys.

Over 150 students attended the session, actively engaging with alumni members and seeking advice on launching their academic careers and pursuing opportunities in information technology.

The UCSC Alumni Association held its Annual General Meeting yesterday, marking a significant milestone following the interim committee's remarkable progress since September 2023. With a strong new committee now in place, the association is poised to achieve even greater heights in the coming year.

As proud alumni who have followed in the footsteps of Professor V.K. Samaranayake, the esteemed Father of IT for Sri Lanka and founder of UCSC, we honor his memory on what would have been his 85th birthday. Though he is no longer with us, his words of wisdom and enduring presence continue to inspire and resonate throughout our UCSC premises.

In loving memory of Vidya Jyothi Prof. V.K. Samaranayake on his 85th birthday. Today, we reflect on his enduring legacy that inspires generations.

The 23rd ICTer conference, hosted at UCSC this year, presented a distinctive ambiance with the inclusion of six esteemed international keynote speakers and the participation of our former UCSC Director. The UCSC board of directors recognized the significance of involving the Alumni Association to provide valuable insights and guidance to the audience, highlighting the successful trajectories of past UCSC graduates in both research and industry.

During the event, we actively engaged with numerous undergraduate attendees, offering them invaluable career advice and witnessing their enthusiasm to explore their potential. The overwhelming response from participants, demonstrated by a significant number of member registrations on both event days, surpassed our expectations and underscores the growing enthusiasm and support within the UCSC alumni community.
