The Prefects’ Guild of D.S.Senanayake College, Colombo – 07 was founded by it’s founder princ

ipal Sir R.I.T. Alles in the year 1973, which is 6 years after the school had been founded. Alles for D.S.Senanayake College was brought forth with the initiation of the Prefects’ Guild, first appointed to uphold the discipline of the school and succeeding to be highly acclaimed as the most disciplined school of Sri Lanka, producing true citizens of immense moral and excellence of character. Senanayake Prefects would move on to be exceptionally recognized in the society as unique individuals who were capable of taking forth any challenge and setting and example to the
society, in every format.Even though holding a very small history, the Prefects’ Guild would
move on to become the most important organization and power house the school would hold, producing future leaders for the country by
bringing forth their maximum potentials in all fields. Through out a history of 48 years (until 2021), the Prefects’ Guild has surpassed manymilestones and boundaries unprecedented, which hold proof to the level of excellence the Prefects’ Guild commands. The standard of the Guild truly deserves immense credit for its achievements achieved throughout its short history. The Prefects’ Guild has achieved all the milestones that any other school Prefects’ body has achieved in a shorter history, showcasing its high standard for achieving excellence
beyond comprehension. The Prefects’ Guild of D.S.Senanayake College is entirely dedicated for the betterment of the glorious name of Mother Senanayake. Prefect’s
of D.S.Senanayake College aim towards bringing the standards of the school higher and higher with each activity and event they organize and always fulfill the responsibility they owe the school to its best. The Prefects’ Guild of D.S.Senanayake College holds the invaluable and immense responsibility of passing down from generations to generation, the unique culture of mother Senanayake; one built on love, and all the noble qualities of leadership and character that follow within that culture, molded by our beloved founder Principal, Mr. The Prefects’ Guild holds unique traditions and a culture like no other that has been passed down through out the Guild for almost 4 decades.Today, the Prefects’ Guild of D.S.Senanayake College has risen up as a pioneer among young leaders of Sri Lanka, nurtured in the noble qualities of Leadership and Senanayake tradition and has succeeded in showcasing excellence by organizing the Teacher’s Day, the Annual Prefects’ Leadership Training Camp, the School Birthday, the Annual Prefects’ Car Wash, jointly organizing the Annual Prefects’ Encounter
held in connection with the Battle of the Golds, Charity projects, A wesak poya Dansala and the immense project of organizing the Annual
Prefects’ Day. Prefects’ Guild Profile
Senior Prefect ship is the pinnacle that all Senanayakian dream of achieving from
the time they begin to start understanding what D.S.Senanayke College is all about. It is the highest post of leadership that can be held by a student and is a highly prestigious and respected position. With over 48 years of tradition and history behind the Prefects’ Council, this student body is put together to spearhead the continuity and improvement of the quality of the students and the school as well. Senior Prefects are appointed immediately after their Advanced Level examination, as Probationary Prefects for a period of two or three months. The
timing of this appointment allows the Prefects to commit their efforts completely towards College, thus year by year, pushing the levels of the fields that they are chosen to work on. After completing this probationary period, which requires
massive amounts of commitment, dedication and effort. The Prefects’ Council is headed by the Head Prefect, followed by a Senior Deputy Head Prefects and Deputy Head Prefects. The Council members are assigned one of Ten avenues, namely Education, Sports, Sports & Extracurricular Coordinator,
Clubs & Societies, Information Technology, 5S’, Hostel, Students Conflicts Management, Administration & Primary, Esthetic which are headed by a respective Deputy Head Prefects. This created an environment that allows the Prefects’ Council to work on all aspects of College, while being able to give special attention to their respective fields, thus fostering the opportunity to build a better and more beautiful D.S.Senanayake College. The Senior Prefects work tirelessly, day in and day out to best repay the debt they owe to College for making them what they are and also knowing that they have the ability and responsibility to influence and guide the students to a path that leads them to be not only the best possible Senanayakian they can be, but also the best possible citizen they can be. Prefect ship is an experience that teaches
one on how to work with different walks of people, how to think as you go and how things work in an institution such as D.S.Senanayake College. But more importantly it teaches the values of friendship & brotherhood, commitment & dedication, working towards a common goal and unconditional love towards DS.
