*Activity Day – Key Stage 1 *

Character Day 🕵️👮🦸🧙🧑‍🚒🧑‍🔬👩‍✈️🧜‍♀️🧑‍🍳👷‍♀️

Activity Day this term involved all our students of Key Stage 1, to take part in an engaging event called Character Day. Students enthusiastically participated by dressing up as their favourite characters. From real-life heroes to characters from storybooks, movies, superheroes, and cartoons, our little ones transformed into captivating personalities for a day of fun and enjoyment.

Each student had the chance to share about the character they portrayed. This encouraged self-expression and allowed our young learners to showcase their creativity, imaginations while having fun with their peers.

Since the Great Fire of London in 1666, there have been significant advancements in firefighting equipments and techniques used during emergencies.

As part of their Year 2 History curriculum, students from Gateway College Dehiwala were recently taken on a field trip to The Fire Station in Dehiwala. This visit allowed them to explore and gain a better understanding of the latest firefighting equipments and techniques currently employed in fighting fires.

All students were instructed to choose any one or two scenes from the Troy 24 book to fit in to a time limit of 10 minutes and perform it along with their team using costumes and props to fit the scene.

*Activity Day - Wonders of Christmas *

The Key Stage 1 section was transformed into a joyful wonderland to bring out the *“Wonders of Christmas“*. Our Santa’s little helpers worked very hard making various Christmas crafts and decorated them in bright colours to embrace the festive season.

Our students of Key Stage 1 proudly shared their experiences of how they made their crafts with the viewers. It created a special bond of pride and joy, turning our section into a fascinating place during the Activity Day. 🎄🤶🎄⛄️🎄🎅🎄

Year 1 – Class Educational Trip to “Water World Kelaniya” and “Cinnamon Grand Hotel” on the 24th of November 2023.

The students of Year 1 had an exciting beginning to their class trip on the 24th of November since they had to travel in a bus.
First stop was at the Water World Kelaniya, where the students had an amazing experience feed the fish, and witnessing so many different types of fish. The colours, the shapes and their behavior were breathtaking.
The students had the opportunity to walk through the tunnel of water, with fish swimming all around them.
The bird park was an awesome experience as well with so many different kinds of birds and the amazing colours. They witnessed the peacock dance as well. A very exciting event was feeding the birds.
The students had a remarkable time at the Water World and the Birds Park.
Next stop was to the Cinnamon Grand Hotel for a scrumptious meal and a tasty drink at NUGA GAMA.
The history of how this area was named was explained to the students. They were so amused to find out that a tree could be as old as 275 years.

A day of wonder and learning! 🚌✨ Our 2nd graders embarked on a magical class trip, starting with excited faces and a big pink bus to Promate, Athurugiriya. From watching books come to life in massive manufacturing plants to the delightful surprise of spotting their Gateway College books in the making, every moment was a discovery lesson. The adventure continued at Kingsbury Hotel, where friendly staff welcomed them with fresh fruit juice, scrumptious snacks, and an enchanting live Kottu-making experience. From the joyous laughter on the bus to the sand-filled playtime at the hotel, this trip was a memory in the making! 🌟
