Clad in traditional attire, they immersed themselves in cultural customs, fostering a deeper connection to their heritage. From Raban drum performances to savoring milk rice, lighting oil lamps, engaging in avrudu games, and boiling milk, the students reveled in time-honored traditions marking the new year. Their remarkable achievements as National Level Female Champions in Under-16 and Under-20 air rifle shooting categories have earned them a special opportunity.

They're now bound for Bangalore, India, where they'll participate in an exclusive air rifle training program from April 5th to April 11th! This experience is sure to elevate their skills to new heights.

On March 22nd, Southlands College hosted its annual Girl Guide perahera, a captivating procession adorned with delightful performances and displays. With the fullest support of the Mother Old Pupils Associations, this event was a testament to the strong bonds and enduring spirit of our alma mater.

The evening was graced by the esteemed presence of Madam Principal, Mrs. Sumedha Kariyawasam, whose leadership continues to inspire and guide us on our journey. Alongside her, we were honored to welcome Mrs. Anoma Rathnayake, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education at the University of Kelaniya, as our Chief Guest. A highlight of the evening was the presence of our Guest of Honor, Old Girl and Color Holder Mrs. Vipuli Senevirathne, Director of The Greenery Company (SMS Holdings Pvt. Ltd).

What an incredible day it was as we opened our doors to greet the bright faces of our newest students, eager to embark on their educational journey with us.

We were honored to have Mrs. K.M.N. Nirmani, Deputy Director of Education from the Zonal Education Office in Galle, as our esteemed chief guest for the welcoming ceremony. Her presence added immense value to the occasion, inspiring our young learners and igniting their passion for knowledge.

The "Rhythm of Southlands" Talent Show

What an incredible night it was! The much-anticipated "Rhythm of Southlands" Talent Show, organized by the Old Girls Association, was a true celebration of the outstanding talents within our Southlands family! Held on December 23rd, 2023, at the college auditorium, the event mesmerized audiences across three sensational shows.

We were truly honored to welcome esteemed guests, including our Madam Principal, Mrs. Sumedha Kariyawasam, the Divisional Secretary of Gall Four Gravets, the Provincial Education Director, Mrs. Chithra Bamunusinghe, and the Provincial Aesthetic Director, Mrs. Bhagya Malalgoda. Additionally, we had the privilege of hosting the Director of Education Galle Zone, Miss Wasana Madhushrini, and the Director of Aesthetic - Galle Zone, Mrs. Rasika Pathiranawasam, alongside other distinguished guests and members of the Old Girls Association.

Special thanks to Mrs. Janaki Pathiranage, Mrs. Hasanthi Gallage, Deputy Principals, and all the dedicated members of the OGA for their invaluable support and contributions. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the phenomenal aesthetic teachers of Southlands College, whose expertise and dedication played a pivotal role in nurturing the talents of our students.
