Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch is establishing School Circles in Kandy District.

As one of its first programs, a first aid training program was conducted on 23/11/2023 at Samudra Devi Girls High College.

Due to the bad situation in the country, the number of people suffering from calamities has increased.

The Disaster Management Center and the Kandy branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society have jointly camped safely at the Rangala Demala Maha Vidyalaya for fifteen families affected by the risk of landslides in Rangala Village Niladhari area of ​​Medadumbara Divisional Secretariat Division of Kandy District. The NFRI required by those families was provided by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch .

The Executive Officer of the Kandy Branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, the Kandy Branch Disaster Management Team (BDRT) participated in this program.

Today, the Kandy branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch collaborated with Chief Inspector of Police of the Kandy Division Mrs. Dileka Hapukotuwa, Female Superintendent of Police, along with the Children and Women Bureau, to raise awareness about child abuse and responsible phone use among schoolchildren. It was an honor to witness nearly a hundred enthusiastic participants at K/ Ambathenna Pushpadana Maha Vidyalaya, eager to learn and promote mental health. Let's continue our efforts to educate, support, and protect our youth!

With the desire to develop attitude and leadership qualities, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch conducted a leadership training program for the students of Kannangara Maha Vidyalaya who are ready to take on the future on 15/11/2023 at the school premises.

🌍🤝 It was a memorable day for Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch Branch and Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Matale as we answered the call from United Nations Development Programme - UNDP to provide First Aid services at Sigiriya, welcoming representatives from 68 countries. 🚑

ඩෙංගු මදුරුවන් බෝවන ස්ථාන පිළිබඳව දැනුවත් කිරීම, ඩෙංගු රෝග තත්ත්වයන් පිළිබඳව දැනුවත් කිරීම, පාසලේ සිට ඩෙංගු මදුරුවන් බෝවන ස්ථාන පිරිසිදු කිරීම මෙහිදී සිදු කෙරිණි. එහි පළමු පියවර ලෙස 2023/09/11 දින මහනුවර කන්නන්ගර විද්‍යාලයේ දී දැනුවත් කිරීමේ සහ පිරිසිදු කිරීමේ වැඩසටහනක් පැවැත්විණි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා රතු කුරුස සමාජය විසින් පාසලේ කසළ කළමනාකරණය සඳහා වර්ණ සංකේත සහිත බඳුන් පරිත්‍යාග කරන ලදී.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society is undertaking a major mission to fight the rapidly resurgent Dengue Epidemic.
This process, which covers all districts, is also in operation in Kandy district.

"Dengue free schools - children as agents of change"
As a basic program of dengue control programs, school students are specially informed about dengue.

Awareness about dengue mosquito breeding places, awareness about dengue disease conditions and cleaning of dengue mosquito breeding places from the school were done here. As the first step, an awareness and cleaning program was held at Srimlwatta collage -Kandy on 08/09/2023.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society donated colour coded bins for the school's waste management.
To make this program successful, Chief Public Health Medical Officer, Branch Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch, youth members and school circle members and students participated.

Obituary Notice

We regret to announce the untimely demise of Mr. Mahesh Wanigasooriya, treasurer, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Ratnapura branch.

He joined SLRCS in 1997 and served the community in district as well as at national level as a young leader, as a team player, as well as a volunteer. He was a senior first aid instructor and a former National Secretary of Youth Committee of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society. Further, he was a part of disaster response teams. He extended his strength to the fullest to serve the society without expecting anything in return.

We are forever thankful for his service over the past 26 years.

May He Attain The Supreme Bliss of Nibbana.

As the first step, an awareness and cleaning program was held at Ambathenna Pushpadana Maha Vidyalaya -Katugasthota on 07/09/2023.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society donated colour coded bins for the school's waste management.
To make this program successful, Chief Public Health Medical Officer Poojapitiya, Branch Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch, youth members and school circle members and students participated.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) continues its dengue control efforts.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies launched Sri Lanka's Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) to help people fight the disease.

Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch implemented cleanliness and awareness programs in the Gampola city area in collaboration with local volunteers, public health inspectors, Gampola mincipal Council staff.

SLRCS is on the ground assisting people in overcoming the epidemic.

A large number of locals and foreigners participate and we provide first aid services in case of any accident or illness that occurs here.

Our Red Cross first aid team during the 2023 perahera at Sri Dalada Malligawa. Our team diligently worked for 11 consecutive days, meticulously organizing all arrangements leading up to the perahera, which ultimately resulted in its successful ex*****on. This event holds great significance as one of Sri Lanka's major first aid endeavors, made possible through the invaluable support of well-wishers.

The Kandy branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society serves as a shining example of the vitality and boundless spirit inherent in our young generation. Fueled by hope and fortified by strength, the youth wing of the society embodies the essence of our future. They not only contribute to the organization, but they also constitute its core, infusing it with dynamism and fervor. Observing their resolute dedication and unwavering resolve fills us with profound pride. Chest Hospital of Kandy National Hospital is a place where many people visit every day. Srilanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch launched a dengue control program to prevent the spread of dengue mosquitoes. To make the program successful, Dr. Kavinda, Head of the Chest Hospital of Kandy National Hospital, Entomologist Dr. Vasala and other hospital staff participated.

A cleaning program of the Dengue Control Program was conducted on 18 August 2023 on the Kandy lake round.
Organized by Srilanka Red Cross Society Kandy Branch , the Executive Officer of Red Cross Society Kandy Branch, Youth and Active Members, Kandy Municipal Commissioner, Kandy Municipal Council, Environment Committee of Kandy police, supported this program. The program was successfully completed.

On August 16, 2023, the Kandy branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society successfully concluded a first aid training initiative at Doluwa National School. This program was organized by the Uda Palatha Mahajana Library to the students of Doluwa National School in conjunction with Reading Month.
