Many of you have inquired about my thoughts on the upcoming Liberia election scheduled for October , and I appreciate your interest in my perspective.
My silence on this matter has not been due to indifference but rather a deep concern for the state of our nation. I have observed troubling signs, including the support for oppressive forces, the rebranding of old political wine, and the backing of economic wrongdoers. These developments have left me hesitant to speak out, as I believe in the importance of genuine progress and accountability for the benefit of all Liberians.
As the election draws nearer, I encourage each of you to critically assess the candidates and their platforms. Let us demand transparency, accountability, and a commitment to the betterment of our nation from those seeking leadership positions. Liberia deserves leaders who genuinely prioritize the well-being and prosperity of its people.
In the coming weeks, I will be closely watching the developments and engaging in constructive dialogue to promote positive change as always since this process started. Together, we can work towards a Liberia that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of its citizens.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
I'm thrilled to share with you a project that's close to my heart. I have been sitting for a while reflecting on a lot but most of all I have decided to be motivational to someone out there
So I wrote these words:
"The man or woman who desires to go far in life must have a vision else the person will be wandering in the valley of frustration and set back in life".
Show me a man of vision and I will show you a great destiny
Those with vision in life are focused because they have what they are aiming at and they are going in direction of that vision. Those with vision are hardly distracted but that is only on the ground that they don't share their vision in life with everyone they meet.
Vision is a light at the top of dark hill and not everyone will agree to the possibility of such visions being achieved because they are not seeing any path leading to that light on the hill.
I have learnt to speak less of my visions and aspirations in life to everyone because not everyone can and will ever understand my vision in life. My vision is unique to me and it takes men and women of understanding to really know what I am going after and then they become a source of inspiration to help me on the path of achieving my vision in life.
Again, on the path to achieving your vision in life, you have to be prepared for discouraging times and persons who are ready to give you reasons why you should give up on your visions in life. But you got to pay less attention to them because what is driving you is different from what is driving and the reason is because you are not going in the same direction in life like them. So keep moving until you get to your destination in life and you will be glad you were focused on your vision in life and not the distraction you met on your way to destiny
Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you made once. If you want different result make different choice if it doesn't open it not you door..
Life is good so make it beautiful
When we are born we are given a life not a bad one or good one it is up to us to make it bad or good , a positive mind find opportunity in everything and a negative mind find fault in everthing...
J MARVELOUS GILAYENEH writes,
A Proud Yalmist and Activists.
The political system in Africa is mostly democratic in nature as it is controlled by the impact of international forces and a number of African feudal aristocrats, political leaders, bureaucrats and organizations. Democratic elections in Africa for the most part, are changing actors but same old scripts, and enormous corruption. Moreover, without youths’ participation and representation, democratic society could be undermined, because for democracy to function well all parts of society must be included. It’s time to stop castigating youth and instead try to understand and evaluate with compassion why disengaging is often their duck position.
Young people are frequently less engaged in the overall political processes across the continent, and young people feel that they have little opportunity to participate in politics, but their role in democratic process is totally important. Therefore, lack of political efficacy of youth has influenced their behavior towards politics. As such, they have insufficient trust in political parties, governments, and politicians. When young people are disenfranchised or less engaged from political processes, a significant portion of the population has little or no voice or influence in decisions that affect them. This leads to consequences undermining of democratic systems. Young people are not only participating less than adults, but their levels of contribution are declining at a more rapid rate. African youths are less likely to vote in national elections, engage in public behavior or sign up others in raising an issue, compared to their elders.
The role of youths in nation-building is more important than anyone might think. In other words, the brains and work of the youth will take Africa on the right lane to success. AU also acknowledged the importance of investing in young people by adopting the African Youth Charter about 12 years ago and later declared 2009 to 2018 the “African Youth Decade.” It developed an action plan to empower youth and promote their participation in politics as events in many African countries and various surveys, have shown, plans to get more youth elected to political office have not been translated into action, and it is a clear evidence that the participation of young people in formal, institutional political processes is low when compared to older citizens across the continent.
Political participation includes a broad range of activities through which people develop and express their opinions on the world and how it is governed, and try to take part in and shape the decisions that affect their lives. Therefore, Through active participation, young people are empowered to play a vital role in their own development as well as in that of their communities, helping them to learn vital life-skills, develop knowledge on human rights and citizenship and to promote positive civic action.
In Liberia, Despite making up more than half of the population in many countries, young people (ages 18-30) often find themselves marginalized from mainstream politics and decision making. They struggle to gain the respect of public officials and are seen as lacking the skills and experience to engage in political activity and lead positive change in their communities. This exclusion, combined with limited educational and economic opportunities, can leave young people both idle and frustrated with the status quo.
Today’s youth need real opportunities to participate in political processes and contribute to practical solutions that advance development in upcoming elections. When given an opportunity to organize, voice their opinions and play a meaningful role in political decision making, young people consistently demonstrate their willingness and ability to foster positive, lasting change. They also become more likely to demand and defend democracy, and gain a greater sense of belonging..
We remain committed to support young people to channel their energy, creativity and aspirations and become political leaders, activists and build relationships with political leaders, and break down sociocultural and institutional barriers to participation.
Young people let us support the:
Youth for Youth policy
The youth face many issues in the world, but these issues go unheard. Since the youth would better understand other young people, the best way to improve this newer generation would be through politics, which is a tool used to take action for development.
Support the new system that leads toward a higher quality of democratic governance.
Thank You
