Warsaw coffee weekends. Last week I managed to get out to Warsaw for a couple of days. The weather smiled and one half of the day was devoted to a little walk. First on the list was Coffee desk coffee shop. Located on one of the small streets in the centre. Great selection of specialty coffee for sale. But on site filter coffee offered pre-brewed from thermoses. Tried the Kenya. It was served in a big heavy mug. There were hardly any seats available inside. Sat on the terrace. Coffee was a 7 out of 10.
Next I went to a small, rushed concept with yellow sweatshirt and blue walls, on a busy hipster street called Cofphi. Not much coffee selection for sale, but I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of cascara from Costa Rica on the shelf. I've been looking for a good cascara for a long time.
The next concept Soulmate was located deep in the park next to the skatepark and in a detached house. But nothing much I can tell you about it other than the cake was great. on in the setting sun we walked into a spacious coffee shop Na Bank close to busy Bank Square Here ordered a V60 and of course chose Peru. But got pretty much an good Americano with no fruity acidity. There were a lot of people here even in the evening. Seems like a lot of people use this place to study and as a meeting place. That's it all with my small coffee trip in Warsaw. Come and visit us for Polish roasting and cascara. See you!
Piemēram, European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) kohorta pētījumā, kurā piedalījās vairāk nekā 521'300 dalībnieki no desmit Eiropas valstīm, norādīja, ka lielāks kafijas patēriņš tiek asociēts ar mazāku mirstības risku (https://www.iarc.who.int).
As part of the WEEK GERMAN COFFEE ROASTERS in Strada coffee bar, we are pleased to present THE BARN ROASTERY from Berlin.
The Barn philosophy is to source and roast some of the best coffees available. By paying premium prices they enable coffee farmers to create a sustainable business. All coffees are scoring 86 points and more; they are fresh in season and roasted to perfection: their roast style is fully developed but light and clean The Barn is a leading coffee roaster in Europe and represents the Specialty Coffee Movement since 2010. Their vision has been very clear from the start: a focus on making their coffees better and better. It all started when Ralf, the man behind The Barn, moved back to his home country after living in London for 10 years. He used to work in both finance and acting but coming back he decided to try something different, aiming to combine his work and passion. Having the chance to work in hospitality, he decided he finally found his way, and in 2010 he decided to open his own coffee place. Inspired by the quality and freshness of the food at Borough market in London, and noticing the lack of specialty coffee in town, he opened The Barn: at the beginning just as a coffee place, serving the best coffee they could find. One year later. Ralf started to think about opening his own roastery, and the rest is history.
In our coffeeshop Strada coffee bar , we offer two specialty coffee from The Barn Roastery and are brewed in a filter v60 and Chemex. Welcome!
As part of the Week of German coffee roasters in Strada Coffee Bar .riga , we are pleased to present Bonanza Coffee Roasters from Berlin. From its non-descript gray brick exterior, passersby could easily mistake Bonanza Coffee Roasters for any number of hip boutiques and cafés on one of Prenzlauer Berg’s most gentrified streets in former East Berlin, just blocks from where the Berlin Wall once stood. Even its slight neon sign, a scroll of cursive letters that reads, Bonanza Coffee Heroes, is hard to decipher. But no matter; Bonanza has made a name for itself (despite appearances) as Berlin’s original roastery, which has been setting standards in the capital for almost a decade.
Launched by Berliner Yumi Choi and her business partner Kiduk Reus back in 2006, Bonanza Coffee Roasters (formerly Heroes) was the first of its kind—a boutique roastery that brought quality coffee to the lips of the deprived.
Bonanza buys boutique coffee beans from Ethiopia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Kenya, Indonesia, and Colombia and pays a significantly higher premium than fair-trade prices. Yumi regularly visits cafes and roasters across Europe to bring back sample beans, which they also sell in the shop. “That’s what we’re here for, to showcase how coffee can taste, but also to share what’s going on internationally in the coffee world,” she says.
While Bonanza focuses on wholesale and consulting outside of the shop, inside it’s all about the aromatic wafts of coffee that keep customers hooked. With no food on the menu, Bonanza is not a café in a classic sense. In fact, it’s quite minimalist, with only a couple of small tables and a window-side counter that faces the pedestrian-strewn street. The rest of the space is devoted to a three-kilogram Probat, hailing from 1918. They also have a roasting production setup in the district of Wedding, north of Prenzlauer Berg.
In our Strada coffee bar we offer tested best coffee from Bonanza Coffee Roasters brewed in a filter V60 or in Chemex.
As part of the week of German coffee roasters in Strada Coffee Bar , we are pleased to present Five elephant roastery from Berlin.
Five Elephant is a special micro coffee roastery, bakery and café in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The Five Elephant focuses on fair trade products and high quality coffee.
The small minimalist-classic-styled café exudes Kiez flair. Instead of an elaborate decoration the focus here is simply on the skillfully prepared coffee. A world map on the wall announces the long journey of the coffee bean to the Five Elephant coffee roastery in Berlin. The owners, Kris and Sophie, travel to the coffee-growing areas themselves in order to build up sustainable relationships and closely monitor the process of coffee from cultivation to processing. The beans for the in-house roasting come from Ethiopia, Guatemala and Kenya. The Five Elephant pays great attention to fair production of the coffee. The self-roasted coffee is then served in the coffee shop at Reichenberger Straße just around the corner from the roastery or is packed to take away.
Laptops at Five Elephant coffee shop are only allowed in the backroom. In the café, visitors are asked to relax more and work less. Outside the café, you will find some wooden tables and chairs to enjoy your coffee in the sun.
The online shop of Five Elephant not only offers the self-roasted coffees, but also branded T-shirts and cups.
In our coffee bar , we offer two specialty coffees from Five Elephant Coffee & Cake and are brewed in a filter and a Chemex.

Tomorrow you will be able to taste our very special coffee. This is Papua New Guinea Sigri Estate A. We specially roast it lightly so that the coffee retains all the subtleties of taste.
The Sigri plantation, situated in the Wahgi Valley, in the Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea, was established in the 1950s and rapidly gained a reputation that has continued to grow with Sigri being internationally recognized as producing a gourmet coffee equal to the world's best for more than 20 years. All plantings are exclusively Arabica, concentrating on the Typica varieties which originate from seed introduced to Papua New Guinea from Jamaica Blue Mountain Typica rootstock. The farm sits at 5000 feet above sea level, with the main crop harvested from May to July. All growing and processing practices follow a system which has been throughly proven over many years, and insists on the highest standards and quality at every stage.
Sigri coffee undergoes a rigorous wet factory process. Quality control begins in the field; coffee cherry is hand-picked and carefully checked for uniformity; it must be red and fully ripe which allows for the correct balance of sugar and acid within the cherry. This selected cherry is then pulped on the day of picking. The fermentation process stretches through a period of three days, broken every 24 hours by washing. Unlike other washed processed coffees, however, Sigri's process follows this by a total immersion in water for a further day, which creates a unique flavor profile.
All Sigri coffee is sun dried to further enhance flavor. Careful conditioning, hulling, grading and hand sorting follows. Soil and water conservation as a priority, and the plantation is bird and eco friendly. They employ a "medium density shade" strategy, which uses two types of shade trees to protect the coffee plants and fields. This promotes not only the even ripening of coffee cherries, but also provides habitat for at least 90 species of birds.
