Minister Thoriq Ibrahim signed a Contract between Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Maldives and Sinosor to design, supply, and install Power System Control and Monitoring Systems (PCMS) on 20 inhabited islands.

The 5th Joint Coordination Committee meeting for the JICA Technical Cooperation Project "Building Climate Resilient Safer Islands in the Maldives" was held today. The current progress and activities under the project was shared and discussed among focal point stakeholders.

ENDhERI project today started a two-day capacity building training in L. Kadhdhoo for all waste and resource management focal points of Laamu island councils, atoll council and other relevant stakeholders. This training is conducted by Up Close Solutions as part of their contract to develop waste and resource management (WRM) plans for all islands of Laamu Atoll.

The objective of this assignment is to strengthen Waste and Resource Management in Laamu Atoll through improved planning and enhanced local capacity to execute and monitor WRM plans. By the end of the training, participants will have developed a comprehensive understanding of how to plan, implement, monitor, and report using the WRM system and plans developed under this assignment.

Muhusina Abdul Rahman from MoCCEE and Beth Flavell from OCPP presents study assessing Protected Area Management Effectiveness, leading to the development of SMART management plans, and a National Framework to enhance PCA management, stakeholder awareness, and consistent practices.

HDh. Nolhivaram Council met with ministry officials to discuss the challenges of seasonal flooding and waste management in the island. Explored avenues for collaboration in arranging workshops to educate residents on proper waste management techniques.

Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and ministry officials held a meeting with the Minister of Education, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu and his team to explore strategies for boosting energy efficiency in schools & increase awareness about the importance of energy conservation.
