You can not think of development without thinking of prisoners. Good things are coming from prison. It was a great day at Zomba Maximum Prison when four former hardcore criminals came together for ministry. These were saved and got training for ministry while in prison through Good News Revival Centre led by Pastor Nedson Milanzi.

As our youths under the leadership of Elisha Joel with Youth In Development Commission (YIDECOM) are seeking ways to be self reliant, they have gone into Agribusiness to strengthen their Youth Empowerment Fund. The pictures show thousands of cabbages which they harvested and sold and made big money. These youths are doing wonders. They are in environmental and climate change, waste management and manure making, many income generation activities and many more without any external support. Now think of what they can achieve if they can find some people or organizations to stand with them. Am proud of these young people.

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must out run the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up, it knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve. So it doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up, you would better be running.

OUR CHILDREN- OUR TOMORROW- OUR FUTURE

It all started in the 80s when my heart was touched with the plight of children. May be it’s because I was born rejected of my father and raised by a poor single mother in a very rural area. When I saw children moving around without care my heart goes to them. So I started gathering them and have f***y with them. Sometimes my mother would prepare food for all the children. In this situation my heart was not happy for all children to eat our food. But my mum was there for all children. This sweet heart of my mother taught me to be generous when I group up.
ORPHANS AND OTHER VULNERABLE CHILDREN
When the number of orphans and other vulnerable children started to grow because of the hiv/aids epidemic, my heart was moved to start organizing them for children games. I started with one group at my mother’s home which has resulted today into a centre which has gone to different parts of the district of Thyolo, and the vision has been copied to different parts of the country.

Here are other places where this vision has touched:
Prison:
While doing my usual ministry in the prison of Zomba, that particular afternoon, I went to the female section (I am the only one privileged to have the access to all the sections of the prisons of Malawi) where my eyes went to the 2 children who were just bones and skins. They were starving to death. In those days prisoners could stay for a week without food. So were the children. The mothers of these children were from the same family. This touched my heart very much since the children never sinned but because of the sins of their parents. This made me to go back home with the heart for them. Though it was not allowed to take cameras to the prison, but after one day I took food, cloths etc. plus media people with me to the prison. It was a day the revolutionary of child care started in the prisons of Malawi. One of the printing media houses, came up with an article ‘Children suffering in prison because of the sins of their mothers’. The photo of these children were on the front page. Through this I was able to came up with the prison, to start an early child development centre in prisons. Today, many good things for children and mothers in prison have happen. Children born in prisons or accompanying their mothers in prisons are enjoying the fruits of this revolutionary move.

CHILDREN BORN OF BLIND PARENTS:
Visiting the town of Limbe in the city of Blantyre, these children were all over with their parents begging. No time for education. Many times the girls were being abused in one way or the other. I took the interest of visiting them in their homes, where I witnessed their horrible life situations. They go through untold problems. Their so called homes are in terrible state. When asking the parents why these children are not going to the schools knowing we have free primary schools. They told me that they cannot afford to pay the development fund and funds in these schools. Ink and paper is not enough that I can put everything concerning the challenges these children are going through.
That’s when it dawn in my heart that something has to be done. We convinced these blind parents to start sending their children to schools with me taking the responsibility of paying for the funds, buying education materials, clothes and blankets. We started sending them to 3 schools around with meeting them all every Friday at our centre. On this day, we committed ourselves to feed them, play with them, having sports and checking their school works. Despite the many challenges, but we are seeing the impact of this program. I can testify that we are the witness of the power of a heart for the poor. The first step is always hard but once you have started the move, things happens.
This work for the orphans and vulnerable children, children with their mothers in prisons and children of the blind parents has seen us established a Faith Based Organization working for the children and juveniles under our NGO called:
Good News Revival Centre Community Development Services (GOCODES)
As am writing now, children with their mothers in prisons are attending early childhood together with children of the officers in prisons.
Children of the blind parents are schooling and some have finished secondary schools and are working. 6 will be writing their form 4 this year.
125 Orphans and other vulnerable children will sit for primary living certificates examination. Every year 3760 kids are attending our early childhood development centres. 117 children from the blind parents are attending primary school.

Our vision is to build a Role Model Early Childhood Development Training Centre, where care givers can come from all over the country for training. Since most of the care givers are women who are volunteers, they need to be empowered with skills for income generation in addition for child caring.
We want to come up with a factory for nutrition foods. We want also to establish a skills training centre for entrepreneurship for these young.
These initiatives will bring great revolutionary in the Early Childhood Development Services and in the Youth and Women Empowerment Programs. Investing into the early days of the children.
Our children- our tomorrow- our future.

Providing clean water during the floods and after the floods is what I call giving the gift of destiny to people of all ages and from all walks of life.I will never forget visiting one village where people were drawing water from the stream where at one point of the stream a dead dog was pouring its roteness etc.into the stream which was resulting into many water diseases which were killing many young lives. In my own village children were dying like anything till we provided a bore hole for clean water, Then things changes. GIVE A GIFT OF DESTINY. PROVIDE CLEAN WATER.

Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft once said: If you have a focus for people less fortunate than yourself, you will never go without a dollar. He said these words to Ross Bridgman at the airport. Ross has never been the same. He went to change the lives of the orphans in Thailand and many Asian countries. What do you think about these powerful words and the action taken by Ross? Take action.
