August 29 through the present

On August 29 Hurricane Nora devastated downtown Puerto Vallarta, including Una Familia. One month later we are back on our feet and serving our customers. A lot of sweat and tears went into the cleanup, but thanks to a number of volunteers we are open. The photos are a timeline of the work put into getting back open.

When Vicky and Alina saw the damage caused by Nora on the morning of August 29, the first thing they thought was "we're done". But thanks to the assistance of a lot of people, both friends and strangers, they have pulled things together and will be opening for carry-outs only tomorrow (Thursday). There is still a lot of cleaning to be done. And painting the walls that were damaged by the 5 feet of water that broke in and shoved everything into the street. Please, please come in or call and order some of our delicious food. We have been closed for almost 2 weeks and need all the business we can get.

We are working hard to get up and running again. The mud just never ends. We think we have it all and more seeps out. We'll let you know when it's a go and pray that all our loyal customers come flocking back.

Una Familia suffered major damage from Hurricane Nora. The Rio Cuale broke through the bridge on Insurgentes and roared down Libertad, breaking our glass door and sweeping everything outside on the street. It left the restaurant full of mud and debris. Cleanup has started but right now we don't know the extent of damage to the building or equipment. There is no running water, so it is impossible to clean. We will post further developments.

We now have air conditioning!!!!! Come in for breakfast, lunch or dinner in comfort 🙂🙂
