We often get asked, "Is it okay to send flowers after a funeral?" The short answer is: Yes.

Sending flowers after the funeral is a beautiful way to remind loved ones that support and love continues in the days and weeks that follow. Grief doesn't have a timeline; the days post funeral can be lonely and emotionally taxing for the family. A simple bouquet or a potted plant with a thoughtfully written note (we can help you with the note too) can bring solace and a reminder that they are not alone.

Happy Floral Design Day to florists and flower lovers world over!!!

We're tipping our blooming hats to Carl Rittner, who founded the Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston over 60 years ago; a pioneer in floral art education. The people at Rittners felt that the idea of a day that celebrates floral design as an art form is a wonderful one whose time had come. So they, along with Mr. Rittner, wanted to see Floral Design Day continue to be observed as an event in its own right.

This commemorative day which falls on February 28th recognises the art and history of floral design. For thousands of years, floral design has been an important cultural art form and we continue to celebrate this art in all its form regardless whether its a bouquet, painting, textile, a garden, or a floral arrangement.

Hello Nooklets. For the third year in a row, we're sticking to our decision to not participate in Valentine’s Day.

Two main reasons:
1. Flower prices are high, and will get higher leading to Valentine’s week. While we send thoughts to the Powers of the Universe every blooming day to stabilise costs, the God's of the currency exchange rate have yet to hear us. With the massive increase in demand for VDay there will be a further surge and this state of flux will continue. We've not made it a secret that over the past years we've been absorbing a fair bit of the difference so as not to pass the cost on to our clients who buy from us all year round for all manner of life events, but this is not a viable option for us in peak seasons.

2. There's an over reliance on imported stock - as a result our ethos of Responsible Floristry and supporting Grown Not Flown is heavily compromised. Carbon footprint is the stuff of our nightmares and keeps us awake at night; blinking in the dark like owls (wait ... do owls blink? Relatedly, do penguins have knees?) gives us crow's feet, nobody wants that. We pride ourselves in offering as much Grown Not Flown options as we can manage daily, but there's still a shortage in the local floriculture industry (stemming from a few years ago when local flower farms took quite a beating with the prolonged Covid shut downs, and many switched to growing vegetables in order to go to market).

Hence, the decision to take ourselves out of the equation from 10 - 18 February (we reopen on 19 February).

Also … like we loudly say every year, there are no rules - so celebrate love in small ways every day and often.

To be clear, we arrived at this decision after careful planning & consideration of what best serves the growth needs of our small family business while keeping true to our ethos of Responsible Floristry. It's a personal decision & we do not speak for others in our industry. Please remember that Valentine's Day is an important event for many hardworking people in our industry who strive to make this a memorable day for consumers.
