Advanced Trauma in Orthopaedic: When clavicle and scapula (shoulder blade) at same body side are both fractured, it becomes unstable causing a “floating shoulder”. This complex injury is common in high speed road accident or fall from height. It should be stabilised quickly by fixing both clavicle and shoulder blade at one go. Here are my 2 recent cases: top 2 pictures reveal the fractures, whereas bottom 2 pictures show fixation with anatomical plating, screws, +/- wiring.
