Our international students had the pleasure of visiting the renowned Sarawak Cultural Village as part of our UBS Mobility Programme. This immersive experience aimed to provide a deep understanding and appreciation of our local traditions, heritage, and way of life.

We received a warm welcome from the village's host community, who greeted our students with traditional music and dance. Throughout the visit, students participated in various interactive activities designed to highlight different aspects of the local culture. The vibrant performance set the tone for the day, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of our region.

Mandarin for Beginners

This 14-week course aims to equip participants with essential skills to converse in Mandarin. The course has 41 participants and focuses on Pinyin alphabets, grammar rules, and common phrases necessary for workplace settings, with an emphasis on pronunciation and tones, which are crucial for language learning.

It covers practical language skills for various scenarios, including personal and office routines, financial transactions, self-introduction, weather, telephone conversations, etc. By the end of the course, participants will be able to conduct basic conversations in Mandarin, thereby enhancing communication and collaboration in their professional environment.

This course is organised by Madam Haslina Wahab and Madam Dayang Hartijah Abang Ahmad from the Faculty of Education, Language, and Communication, together with Mr. Lam Kai Chee and Madam Kuan Wee Ling as trainers.

UNIMAS Edu Sdn Bhd (UESB), branded as UNIMAS Business School (UBS) is immensely thrilled to be once again acknowledged as one of the top course providers; among 1487 participants at the National Training Week (NTW) 2024, vying for recognition as quality education providers across the nation.

This is another feather in our cap in our unrelenting quest to be the preferred provider of quality academic and training in Malaysia and beyond, following our proud achievement for being the Top Course Provider last year. UBS outdoes its own record of offering 35 free courses in NTW 2023 to 53 courses this year.

NTW 2024 concluded with the prestigious Closing Ceremony officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium earlier this evening. It was a great honour and moment of great recognition when YBhg Prof Dr. Ahmad Hata Rasit, Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS went on stage to receive the Certificate of Appreciation from YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, the Minister of Human Resources, in the presence of YBhg Datuk Shahul Dawood, CEO of HRD Corp and numerous distinguished guests.

UBS extends our deepest gratitude to the top management of UNIMAS led by YBhg Prof Dr. Hj Ahmad Hata bin Rasit, faculties and other PTJs for their steadfast support. Special recognition goes to YBhg Prof Dr. Fitri Suraya Mohamad Hapni Joblie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS; YBhg Prof Ir. Ts. Dr. Al-Khalid bin Hj Othman, Interim Chairman; and Prof Datu Mohd Fadzil Abd Rahman, Chairman of the Professional Short Course Committee (PSCC). Congratulations to Prof Dr. Puah Chin Hong CEO of UBS, Dr Nur Fatihah Abdullah Bandar, ProCEL Manager, Faculty and Institute ProCEL Coordinators, and our dedicated team of trainers who were instrumental in achieving this milestone.

In essence, UNIMAS, through UBS, strongly aligns with the mission of the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), dedicated to advancing upskilling and reskilling initiatives for Malaysia’s workforce. NTW, introduced by HRD Corp, aims to foster continuous personal and professional development and promote lifelong learning among all Malaysians. NTW 2024 successfully offered more than 65,000 free training courses to over 311,000 participants from 24th to 30th June 2024.

UBS is proud to have played a major role in gaining recognition for our commitment towards the nation’s lifelong learning initiative and in bringing together the many individuals who have contributed to our success.
