Meet Penang Science Cluster (PSC), a nonprofit organisation dedicated to nurturing young Penangites with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through hands-on, inquiry-based programs.

Are your children passionate about STEM?*

👉 PSC assists schools interested in robotics by conducting a Lego Robotics program, where Lego Robotics sets are provided on loan and technical workshops are held for teachers by mentors from universities or industries.

👉PSC also conducts the FIRST Tech Challenge, a robotics competition for secondary school students. This program pairs students with industry mentors to build and program robots to perform various tasks. The competition offers students opportunities to advance to international competitions.

👉PSC has established MakerLabs in schools, equipped with tools, software, and hardware to teach critical 21st-century skills through student-chosen projects.

👉PSC is committed to diversity through programs like Inclusive STEM, Girls in STEM, and Girls in Engineering and Technology (GET), which aim to encourage more diverse representation in these fields.

👉PSC also supports schools in teaching STEM effectively by offering teacher training and loans of hardware and equipment like 3D printers, microcontrollers, and laptops necessary for STEM education.

Do you have students keen to participate in STEM fairs and competitions?

Get them to join PSC’s annual Penang International Science Fair (PISF), where they can compete and showcase their technological progress through various competitions such as Coolest Projects Malaysia and Lego Robotics. The PISF is a major event attracting around 60,000 visitors, featuring industry exhibits, hands-on workshops, competitions, and the MakerFest.

Since its inception in 2009, PSC’s mission to create students who are literate and passionate about STEM aligns with the Penang State Government’s aim to develop more STEM-based talents for the tech-based manufacturing sector.

Various activities are awaiting all of you such as fun walks, aerobics, busking performances, e-sports, treasure hunts and stage performances.

For those who love challenging activities, we have zip-lining and tree climbing activities for you !!

KADUN Batu Lancang is leading the way in combating usage of single-use paper and plastic plates and utensils by hawker stalls in order to reduce waste that ends up at our landfills.

Assemblyman Ong Ah Teong announced that Batu Lancang hawkers will no longer provide their customers with single-use paper and plastic plates, forks, spoons and chopsticks to their patrons starting May 15.

Plus, they would also encourage their patrons that want to have takeaways to bring their own tiffin carriers in order to reduce usage of plastic packaging.

Let's hope that the rest of the hawkers in Penang will take up this best practice to reduce single-use plastic and paper utensils.

Penangites too can make the Food Paradise plastic trash-free by using less single-use plastic and paper utensils.

Let us do our part in helping the State Government achieve the aim of Vision Penang2030 - a smart and green family-focused state that inspires the nation - with a simple step like reducing our single-use plastic utensils usage at our hawker stalls.

Pada 6 dan 7 Mei 2024, Pejabat Ketua Menteri telah menganjurkan Bengkel Visi Penang2030 yang menghimpunkan pemimpin dalam negeri untuk memberikan input mengenai mempercepatkan pencapaian Visi Penang2030 untuk menjadikan Pulau Pinang sebuah negeri yang pintar dan hijau berteraskan keluarga inspirasi negara.

Bengkel ini telah melibatkan Barisan EXCO kerajaan negeri, Ahli-ahli Parlimen, Ahli-ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri, Datuk Bandar, Setiausaha Bandaraya dan Ahli-Ahli Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai dan Pulau Pinang, pengurusan tertinggi anak-anak syarikat negeri (GLC) dan anggota perkhidmatan awam negeri Pulau Pinang.

Sepanjang dua hari bengkel ini berlangsung, para peserta telah mengongsikan pandangan mengenai isu-isu dan cara penyelesaian serta peranan pemimpin dalam menjayakan Visi Penang2030.

Meet our brothers and sisters in blue from the Cycling Patrol Unit (URB), who are here to assist George Town folks in making our beloved city more clean and safe.

Since 2016, URB has been serving the community by regularly patrolling around the UNESCO Heritage Site and tourist attractions during peak hours to enforce MBPP’s laws on parking, public safety and cleanliness.

Apart from improving MBPP’s enforcement, these officers also promote a healthy lifestyle to Penangites by taking up cycling, which is in line with Penang government’s goal to make George Town a “clean, healthy and green city”.

Kenali pasukan Unit Rondaan BasikaL (URB) oleh MBPP yang sedia membantu warga George Town menjadikan bandaraya ini lebih bersih dan selamat.

Sejak 2016, unit ini melakukan rondaan di Kawasan Zon Warisan UNESCO dan kawasan-kawasan tarikan pelancong pada waktu puncak untuk untuk menguatkuasakan undang-undang kecil MBPP berkenaan parkir, keselamatan dan kebersihan awam.

Pihak URB bukan sahaja memainkan peranan dalam menambaik operasi MBPP, malah memberikan motivasi kepada warga bandaraya untuk mengamal gaya hidup yang cergas dengan berbasikal.

Ini adalah selaras dengan hasrat kerajaan negeri untuk menjadikan George Town bandaraya yang “bersih, sihat dan hijau”

Can one make money with dried leaves found at your parks and roadsides?

An odd question indeed, but guess what: one business venture has an answer for that

Meet CarbonLeaf, an eco-friendly business model brought by group of five students from the Chung Ling High School that aims on transforming dried leaves into sources of revenue for the local communities.

CarbonLeaf aims to get is to get supplies of dried leaves from the public to be processed into several products such as fertilzers, aromatics and eco-friendly decoratives. Carbon Leaf also aims to provide job opportunities for the community such as suppliers, quality control and web and app designers.

This eco-friendly business venture, cofounded by friends Goh Ting Wei, Chin Khai Wern, Chuah Kai Shen, Caleb Chua and Bryce Ooi Yu Xuan aim at working with Penang National Park, Tropical Spice Garden, Entopia Penang Butterfly Farm, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and Genting Hinglands, as well as with farming companies - to would supply them with dried leaves.

And they are aiming to get more clients from environmental and conservationist groups as well. "When they learn that our products are eco-friendly, they will be more likely to purchase our products," said Goh when met by Penang2030.

CarbonLeaf won the first prize at the Penang2030 Innovation Bootcamp competition, organised by Penang Science Cluster and supported by the Penang state government on March 7th and 8th.

This competition, aimed at molding the future innovators and entrepreneurs for our beloved state brought together 16 teams of 71 Form Three students around the state who created mobile apps and websites to promote their business ideas.

These teams presented their projects to Penang state executive councilor for local government, town and country planning Yang Berhormat Tuan Jason H'ng Mooi Lye and Batu Uban assemblyman Yang Berhormat Tuan Kumaresan Arumugam, who is the member of the state committee on science and technology.

Penang state government looks forward to help creating entrepreneurs among our youths, whom we see as the of the state’s most valuable assets.
