Happy Malaysia Day! Today, we reflect on how far we’ve come as a nation and the collective strength that binds us together. Let’s continue to celebrate our differences and build a stronger Malaysia for all.

It was a pleasure bringing our VU alumnus, Ricky Liew, to visit the School of Engineering & Technology (SET). Being an aircraft engineer, he was very interested in the new developments in the engineering programmes we offer. Ricky shared practical insights into the engineering field that made the discussion both engaging and informative. He also expressed his interest in contributing to the SET, showing his commitment to supporting and encouraging academic excellence. Thank you so much Ricky for choosing to sow into the lives of our students and the institution!

We had a very interesting and personal session at our final Alumni Networking Mixer event of the year! A-Level alumna, Su Yen, walked us through some of the ways and methods to identify if we are experiencing burnout. More often than not, it does not look as obvious as we think it would be. Not just that, she shed some light on ways to empower ourselves, and ensuring that recovery is a process that everyone will have to go through and it may not be a straightforward one. Sometimes it can get pretty ugly, but the end result is rewarding! We also had an in-depth Q&A session with Su Yen and Dr Erica Woo from SMLS as they helped provide more personal opinions on the topic. We hope all our attendees learned a little bit more about themselves and ways to recover from burnout!

Back on the courts and back together! Thank you to all the alumni who joined us for the Trident Alumni Games: Badminton Challenge. We loved seeing the passion, fun, and friendly competition between Sunway, Taylor's and Monash alumni. Hope everyone had an amazing time!

We had a surprise visit from Qasim and his family who were on holiday from Pakistan, and he decided to show off his alma mater! He was active on campus as a student leader and immediately recognised by our colleagues in Student LIFE. Thanks for dropping by and hope to see the next generation at Sunway too!

We met a few of our alumni yesterday during the Employers Appreciation High Tea! From studying on campus to being employers of our students, we're so glad that we get this opportunity to continue our partnership! We hope to have more of these opportunities in the future with more of our alumni!

We had a fun meet up with some of our alumni based in Tokyo. We enjoyed hearing their life stories and the things they miss in Sunway and Malaysia (namely garlic chicken rice and 24-hour mamak)! Our international alumni are so important to us, so this opportunity to catch up was amazing!

We organised our first every Sunway Student Leaders Alumni Unite where we gathered our student leaders alumni for a session to foster a strong bond between each student leadership bodies. We had different cohorts of leaders from Sunway Student Ambassadors, Sunway Student Volunteers, Career Peer Advisors, Sunway Global Friends Community, both Student Councils of Sunway College and Sunway University, and Peer Counselling Volunteers attending the event, and it was an encouraging sight to see everyone still sharing their fond memories during their time at the respective student leadership bodies.

So glad to see each and everyone of them continuing the heart of giving of their abilities and talents to benefit the people around them and making a difference in society. We hope that they will continue to do so even more now!

Last Saturday, our Sunway Student Volunteers alumni organised a workshop for some kids from Rumah Charis. This workshop, "Empowering Students for Tomorrow" aimed to equip and also cultivate the children's skills in public speaking, creative thinking and teamwork. We're thankful to our alumni for taking the initiative to plan and organise this wonderful session and for sowing into the next generation! A huge shoutout to our student volunteers as well for lending a hand and being so helpful towards the kids!

Yup, you read it right! Our Guest of Honour for the Sunway Alumni Homecoming is none other than Professor Dato’ Sri Idris Jala! He is known for his expertise in business transformation and public policy. You may know him as the key figure leading the major turnaround of Malaysia Airlines during his tenure as CEO, and his time as a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. On top of that, he’s also the Pro-Chancellor of Sunway University.
Together with his son, Leon Jala, they have started a podcast called “The Game of Impossible” where they share personal stories and experiences about achieving the impossible through the lens of leadership, business, creativity, sports, and faith.

Back with another Sunway Alumni Networking Mixer and Professional Development session! We had quite a number of first time attendees for this round as we were honoured to have Adrian Chia, our SMLS alumnus, to come back and give a talk on The Power of Content Marketing. Adrian, backed with his experience as the Group Head of Video Media Operations at WapCar Autofun, shared with many eager learners on finding their own expertise to experiment on, the types of content that would work for different audiences, and the step-by-step guide to success in their content marketing journey.
It was a blast seeing all of you and we hope everyone had a great time learning and also networking with one another! Looking forward to the next one!
