Processed meats (including chicken and fish), such as those that have been preserved by smoking, salting, curing, or with chemical preservatives, are associated with colorectal cancer and stomach cancer.
As part of its cancer prevention recommendations, the Third Expert Report from World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research recommends eating no more than moderate amounts of red meat, such as beef, pork, and lamb, and eating little, if any, processed meat.

A mother’s diet can impact her child’s development of food allergies or eczema. Researchers found that children born to mothers who had poor diet diversity and who had a history of allergic disease were more likely to develop food allergies and/or eczema.

Analyzing nearly 50 studies in a large-scale review, researchers found that plant-based diets are linked to a lower risk of heart disease and cancers, particularly prostate and gastrointestinal cancers. Plant-based diets have also been shown to reduce risk factors such as being overweight or obese, inflammation, and high low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels. The benefits of a plant-based diet extend beyond weight management as they are rich in anti-inflammatory nutrients and compounds that work to protect health.
