Paramedics are ready to attend to medical emergencies seven days a week from 8am to 8pm daily.

SJ AMBULANCE GETS EQUIPPED WITH STATE-OF-THE-ART APP TO SERVE BETTER IN EMERGENCIES

SUBANG Jaya’s Community Ambulance recently received a state-of-the-art app to help enhance communication during emergencies between the hospital and paramedics on board with a patient.

The team received a brand new CAT Rugged Smartphone S42 H+, to officially mark their participation in a new initiative called Simplified Medical Platform for Emergency (SIMPLE). SIMPLE is currently in beta stage development and is being tested at the Emergency & Trauma Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Pulau Pinang and Hospital Sg. Buloh.

SIMPLE is an initiative under i-Connect Health & Wellness Programme managed by CREST which received Technological Development Grant from the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. i-Connect is a quadruple helix partnership between industry, academia, government and civil society.

Data8 Sdn Bhd is the main lead of the initiative, with support from 3 public hospitals; Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Pulau Pinang, UiTM from the academia and Red Crescent and St John’s under the civil society.

The objective of the initiative is to develop the next generation medical emergency communications system, which aims to increase efficiency of ambulances at ETD hospitals whilst simultaneously reducing mortality and disability rates among patients.

This platform enhances communication between patient, ambulance services and receiving hospitals.

Hospital Sg Buluh Emergency & Trauma Department (ETD) representative Dr Khalid presented the unit to SJ Community Ambulance’s chairman TH Teoh at a recently concluded ceremony.

FIVE years ago today we embarked on a journey to save lives in Subang Jaya. With little experience to organise a massive fundraising dinner of more than 100 tables but experienced hands to assist us, we pulled off an enormous feat to raise RM300K to kickstart our Community Ambulance service.

We have not turned back since then and have forged ahead to continue to save lives with our dedicated team of paramedics. The 2 years of pandemic was the acid test for the ambulance team; as paramedics risked their own lives to save that of others.

With our transition into the endemic phase, plans are in the pipeline to embark on another fundraising drive to help sustain the lifeline of Subang Jaya - our Community Ambulance service.

Support is crucial if we are to be able to continue this initiative which has saved many lives and brought relief to many families.

The number of emergency cases in Subang Jaya have increased by almost two-fold over the last six months. This has put the Subang Jaya Community Ambulance team under tremendous financial and manpower strain as they face the challenges during the pandemic.

We need your help. You can donate generously or you can also volunteer as a paramedic. The team is appealing to retired doctors, nurses and experienced paramedics to volunteer with them to help serve the needs of the community during these trying times.

FOR every 10 calls the Subang Jaya Community Ambulance receives, 5 are Covid-19 related. Over the last six months, the team has been walking on razor thin edge juggling between saving lives and putting their own lives at risk of infection. Community Ambulance Responded to a Stroke Victim at USJ1, not Covid-19

THE Subang Jaya Community Ambulance responded to an emergency call for a stroke victim at a polyclinic along USJ1/19 on Wednesday (July 14 2021) morning.

The emergency call was not for a Covid-19 related case and the patient was sent to the Subang Jaya Medical Centre.

"It has come to our attention that some irresponsible person has sent out a Whatsapp message that claimed we responded to a Covid-19 case."

"That same person also claimed that people should avoid the whole stretch of shophouses because of this," a spokesperson from the SJ Community Ambulance said.

The spokesperson said the team is planning to lodge a police report over the fake news that has been spread around and also for photographs taken of the team and stroke victim without permission.

"We are here to save lives. Our paramedics have to be in full PPE when attending to any case to protect themselves when they respond to an emergency."

"Please verify the information you receive on your messages before sharing it irresponsibly," the spokesperson said.

We are looking for individuals to be part of the team of paramedics manning the Subang Jaya Community Ambulance. You will be our frontliners responding to medical emergencies within the Subang Jaya neighbourhood.
