Dear members of Taylor's Dhivehi Association

Hope you’re all in good health, fighting through this difficult time that’s hopefully coming to an end. It’s been a while since we have interacted with all the members, and as you all know, we had a lot of activities including our signature event planned for this year before the pandemic. However, things didn’t go according to plan and we were advised to wait it out without realizing how long this would stretch.

2020 is coming to an end and the founding members have been in the BoD for more than one year. We formed TDA with the aim, to provide every Maldivian in Taylor’s with a sense of community that collectively represents our culture and tradition. While we may not have succeeded in everything we set out for this year, we believe that we have established the foundation which would tie together the Maldivian community of Taylor’s for years to come.

As the current term of the BoD was coming to an end earlier this year, we conducted an opinion poll in the group to find out how and when the members preferred the elections to be held. Based on this, we had decided on conducting it when the physical classes started earlier this semester. However, since things didn’t turn out as we expected, the BoD has recently discussed alternatives and decided on conducting the elections in December 2020 after the final exams for the semester.

It is high time that we passed the baton to a new group of leaders and we are delighted to announce that applications for BoD 2021 have been officially opened effective today, until 26th November 2020. You can find all the information regarding the new BoD election in the announcement document below. We request all the associate members to read through the notice to get to know about the election process and tentative dates.

In the meantime, we are also required to collect updated information on all the members before the BoD election to ensure that the election is held securely with maximum transparency. All members are required to fill this form (https://forms.gle/B5CL2vSvAtf93zHG8) by 10th December 2020 and members can vote to decide the election date via this form. We have also opened for new members to join until 10th December, so if any of you know new Maldivian students who would like to join TDA, please invite them through the same link.
We hope that we will get maximum cooperation from all of the members to make this election a success and best wishes to all the applicants from the current BoD.

ANNOUNCEMENT - TDA ELECTION 2021

Taylors Dhivehi Association would like to invite all interested associate members to run for the 2021 Board of Directors (BoD). Interested members are required to register on the google form provided below by 26th November 2020.

We request all members to read through the election process and guidelines and reach out to the current BoD for any clarifications.
We have decided to have the election during the virtual Annual General Meeting tentatively on 18th December 2020 which will be finalized after members’ feedback and announced by 11th December 2020.

BoD positions for 2021
1. President
2. Vice-President
3. Secretary
4. Treasurer
5. Director of Events
6. Director of Media
7. Director of Sponsorship
8. Director of Member Development

Eligibility criteria for candidates:
• All associate members registered before 18th November 2021 are eligible to run for the BoD.
• All candidates must have a minimum of one year remaining in their program/course including the final semester ( Jan to December 20201)
• Each candidate can run for up to a maximum of 3 positions.
Campaign & Election Guidelines
The BoD election will be held during the 2020 Annual general meeting in December 2021
• Application for candidates is open from 18th November to 26th November 2020 (Application form: https://forms.gle/LndadE162uLu57mQ6 )
• All Applicants will be publicly announced via all TDA social media platforms on 27th November 2020.

• All campaigning activities would be conducted online, through social media channels.
• Official campaigning will commence on 27th November.
• Each candidate will get a 5-minute slot during the Annual General Meeting, to give
their final campaign speech.
• Candidates are encouraged to be creative in their campaign and post, campaign material
in the TDA WhatsApp group.
Official Voting process
• All members will receive the invitation for the Annual general meeting on their student emails
• Voting will be conducted separately for each position and all members will be able to vote once for each position.
• The voting will be conducted via an open poll, live during the AGM.
• The result of each poll will be shared live with the attendees.
