Benefits of Standing on Tilt Table

1. It helps to improve joint proprioception (joint sense).
2. Reduced spasticity
3. Improve range of movements (for some patients who presents with spasticity or tightness)
4. Prevents muscle contracture

How it is done
1. Patient will be transferred to the tilt table
2. Ensure vital sign stable
3. Secure patient by using strap on chest, hip and knee
4. Ensure patient is positioned properly, especially the ankle placement
5. Gradually raise the bed, monitor patients condition and blood pressure.
6. Recommended standing duration on tilt table is 30 to 45min

There are different types on standing therapy, your therapist will choose according to the patients condition.

Most minor soft tissue injuries including muscle injuries (i.e acute ankle sprain) can be managed at home. For the first 2-3 days after your injury, you should follow PRICE procedure.

Often, we face this issue at our facility, whereby patients refuse treatment. As caretakers, especially family members, should continue providing support for the patient to improve further and reason out why this is important. The journey for recovery takes time, and patients feel depressed especially those who have been practising active lifestyles.

We are happy that after much persuasion from the family, the patient continued taking his medication and returned to our facility. He is progressing well with the rehabilitation programme.

Medications are important, especially after a stroke, for patient recovery and to prevent secondary stroke.
