Hypertension in Nigeria 📟
-------------------------------------------
Hypertension is the leading global cause of mortality and morbidity.

Cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and stroke, are the most common cause of mortality and morbidity across the world and are responsible for 10% of all deaths in Nigeria.

Uncontrolled hypertension is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease and is estimated to be responsible for more than 10 million deaths per year worldwide, which is more than all infectious diseases combined. Hypertension contributes to about 234,000 deaths annually in Nigeria.

The overall prevalence of hypertension in Nigeria is estimated to be 31%. By 2030, it is estimated that there will be more than 39 million cases of hypertension in adults in Nigeria.

EPISIOTOMY
----------------------------
Episiotomy, also known as perineotomy, is a surgical incision of the perineum and the posterior vaginal wall generally done by an obstetrician.

This is usually performed during the second stage of labor to quickly enlarge the aperture, allowing the baby to pass through. The incision, which can be done from the posterior midline of the v***a straight toward the a**s or at an angle to the right or left (medio-lateral episiotomy), is performed under local anesthetic (pudendal anesthesia), and is sutured after delivery.

Unlike In developed countries where communicable diseases have been prevented. Communicable diseases remain very important in developing countries because:

Many of them are very common
Some of them are serious and cause death and disability
Some of them cause widespread out breaks of disease or epidemics
Most of them are preventable by fairly simple means.
Poor socio-economic status of the individuals makes them vulnerable to a variety of diseases
 Low educational status
Lack of access to modern health care services.

Every pregnant woman should start Antenatal Care (ANC) as soon as she knows she is pregnant and continue until delivery.

Husbands should support and encourage their wives to attend ANC regularly.

Your spine helps you sit, stand, walk, twist and bend. Back injuries, spinal cord conditions and other problems can damage the spine and cause back pain.

The disks that cushion vertebrae may compress with age or injury, leading to a herniated disk. Exercises can strengthen the core muscles that support the spine and prevent back injuries and back pain.

Ergonomic principles for the spine care, these are very critical for adults. The spine becomes a major concern with age.

➡ Epilepsy is a chronic noncommunicable disease of the brain that affects people of all ages.

➡ Around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, making it one of the most common neurological diseases globally.

➡ Nearly 80% of people with epilepsy live in low- and middle-income countries.

➡ It is estimated that up to 70% of people living with epilepsy could live seizure-free if properly diagnosed and treated.

➡ The risk of premature death in people with epilepsy is up to three times higher than for the general population.

Don't wait, ACT early!

When severe jaundice goes untreated for too long, it can cause brain damage and a condition called kernicterus.

Early diagnosis and treatment of jaundice can prevent kernicterus.

If you’re concerned that your baby might have jaundice visit your baby’s doctor right away. Ask for a jaundice bilirubin test.
