WORD OF LIFE WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL
Monday 22nd April, 2024
Topic: Walking Towards Spiritual Maturity
Text: Colossians 1:10-14

To increasingly reflect God’s glory in this sinful world, we need His wisdom and power.
Paul fervently desired that the body of Christ, individually and corporately become spiritually mature.
The apostle asked that we believers would know God’s will and then live godly lives (Col. 1:10).
Paul prayed for our character, conversation, and conduct to be consistent with the Lord's character.
Our lives ought to be an extension of His life, with eyes that look compassionately at others, hands that offer help, and mouths that speak forgiveness and love.
A believer’s character, though imperfect, should reflect Christ’s righteousness.
We are supposed to make our life count.
God cares deeply about what is done in obedience to Him that is the reason Jesus spoke about the importance of bearing much fruit, which is possible only when we stay connected to Him. Again, we are to experience God’s power (Col. 1:11).
Through the presence of the Holy Spirit, we have all we need in order to do our Father’s will.
Furthermore, we are to remain committed and grateful (v. 12).
We should always remember that God answers our prayers at His perfect timing.
So, in the meantime, we should be steadfast in prayer and thankful for everything He has already done.
Whenever we pray with these verses, we should have the confidence that our petitions are in accordance with God’s will.
1 John 5:14-15 tells us that our Heavenly Father responds affirmatively to prayers that align with His purposes.
Spiritual maturity therefore, makes us align our thoughts, actions and prayers with God's purpose for our lives.

This week, I pray for you, as you keep spreading the fragrance of Christ everywhere, may you in addition, display the stability and maturity that speaks of a true disciple of Christ.
