In a significant step towards fostering collaboration and promoting environmental stewardship, members of the Music Advertisement Association of Nigeria (National Headquarters), led by the National President, Comrade Surajudeen Hamzat, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the newly appointed General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
The purpose of the visit was to acquaint the association with the newly appointed General Manager and establish a more amicable relationship, seeking avenues for increased partnership with LASEPA.
The discussions primarily focused on critical environmental issues, particularly the management of Noise Pollution in the State and emphasized the need for collective responsibility to enhance

In fulfillment of its duty to shield the environment from various infractions, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed up a number of establishments including a lounge, hotel, bakery, churches, and a mosque for violating the state’s environmental regulations.
The sealed establishments with a diverse range of locations are Lounge Vegas, Opeloyeru Mosque, Old Path Revival Church, Fluffy Dough Bakery, RCCG, Christ Embassy Church, Grace Bible Revival, New Light of God Church, and House 46 Hotels and Suites .
These establishments are situated in various parts of Yaba, Tejuosho, and Surulere in the Lagos Mainland axis.
This measure was taken to address identified cases of noise pollution and environmental violations.
LASEPA maintains its dedication to cultivating a tranquil and sustainable environment that prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and environmental friendliness.
LASEPA, in collaboration with the Climate Transition Academy, presents the Environmental Competence and Capacity Building Program.

Yesterday, a delegation from the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ikeja Branch visited LASEPA headquarters on a courtesy visit to the Agency’s new General Manager, Dr Tunde Ajayi.
The visit according to the body (MAN) is to congratulate and identify with the new GM while strengthening collaboration and fostering a closer working relationship with the agency on environmental protection and sustainable practices within the manufacturing sector.
While welcoming the representatives, GM LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi urged industrial organisations in the State to comply with government regulations on production and discharge such as the Effluence Treatment Plant (ETP), Environmental Impact Assessments(EIA), Environmental Audit Report (EAR) and other measures necessary for a safer and more sustainable environment in the State.
He emphasized the need for a mutually beneficial working relationship that will promote a pollution-free environment and sustainable industrial growth in the State
He urged MAN to join hands with the government in ensuring that industries in Lagos comply with the standards and regulations set by the State government.
Dr. Ajayi emphasized the importance of industry players actively participating in maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment for Lagos residents, highlighting the commitment of MAN and LASEPA to advancing environmentally responsible practices within the manufacturing industries.

The buildup of styrofoams in our gutters and drainages not only poses a significant risk of property damage and potential homelessness but also brings forth serious health implications.

A delegation from the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (NOMAN), yesterday conducted a Familiarization visit to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Headquarters at Alausa yesterday.
The delegation was warmly received by the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi.
The primary focus of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities between LASEPA and NOMAN to address environmental concerns linked to the operations of major oil marketers in Lagos State.
The discussions during the meeting revolved around implementing measures to minimize environmental impact and developing strategies to ensure that NOMAN members operate in full compliance with the environmental standards set by the Lagos State government.
This visit marks a significant step in enhancing mutual understanding and collaboration between LASEPA and NOMAN.

Today, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) carried out an enforcement exercise in Ikorodu to combat noise pollution, air pollution and address various other environmental infractions.
The agency closed several establishments for for violating the law, including Sky Homes Car Wash and Bar, Franco Peter Company (Recycler), SK Bakery, Jemadex Kings Hotel, Planet Hotel, Happy Day Hotel, and a poultry .
Despite several warnings in the past, these establishments, spanning diverse sectors such as hotels, bakery, recycling, and poultry, faced closure due to persistent non-compliance with LASEPA’s regulations.
LASEPA, committed to creating a harmonious and sustainable environment for Lagos residents, took decisive action during today’s enforcement exercise.
The closure serves as a reminder to all businesses within the state to prioritize compliance with environmental regulations, avoid disruptions to their operations, contribute to the growth of the society and general well-being of the citizenry.

3DATX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of Integrated Portable Emission Measurement Systems (IPEMS), visited LASEPA headquarters yesterday to explore collaboration opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and decarbonization efforts.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Ajayi, warmly welcomed the delegation led by Matthew Sulaimon and Dr. Akingbehin S.A, noting that the collaboration was in tandem with the 6-pillars T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda of the State. He emphasized the importance of measuring vehicle emissions accurately, transmitting the data, and negotiating carbon credits.
As an agency dedicated to promoting a cleaner and sustainable environment, LASEPA is eager to engage in partnerships that contribute to the reduction of emissions and enhance environmental sustainability in Lagos.
LASEPA, LASWA COMMENCED A JOINT INSPECTION OF HOTELS, AND NIGHTCLUBS ON THE LAGOON CORRIDOR.
The team visited establishments including Farm City, Sailors Lounge, Oriental Hotel, Circa, Cactus, Radisson Blu, and Lagos Jet Ski Riders Club yesterday.
According to LASEPA boss , the inspection was to evaluate how these establishments handle the wastewater from their kitchen/toilets and solid wastes to prevent direct discharge into the lagoon and drainage channels.
The team, accompanied by experts and consultants like Dr. Bisola Adebayo, a Public Health Physician from LASUCOM, Mr. Asoro Oluwasegun, MD Azmarineberg Limitedr, and Miss Mary Onyenike, Head of Complaints at Azmarineberg Limited, aimed to identify establishments contributing to pollution and ensure compliance with environmental standards, emphasizing the protection of water resources in Lagos.
The inspection was a crucial step in ensuring environmental standards and preventing further degradation of Lagos water resources.
In response to concerns raised by a resident of Abeokuta Street, Anifowose Ikeja, about air pollution from Calcare Building today, LASEPA officials have effectively enforced regulations, addressing the issue at its source.
During the enforcement, officials also observed the mismanagement of waste oil by this facility, posing additional environmental risks.
Immediate corrective actions are being taken to ensure responsible waste management practices and mitigate further environmental impact.

In continuation of the efforts towards environmental protection, the LASEPA team, led by the GM, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi visited other tank farms in Satellite Town, Amuwo Odofin LG. The visited farms included TMDX Terminal, Emadeb Energy Services Limited, and Wosbab Energy Solutions.
During the visit, Dr. Ajayi urged the tank farm operators to submit their environmental technical impact assessments to the Agency as a matter of government policy. He emphasized the importance of compliance with the environmental standards set by the Lagos State government.
He added that regular inspection visits by the agency to tank farms became necessary to monitor the air quality in their neighborhood and prevent the discharge of hazardous contents that may affect the public and the ecosystem into water bodies.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency had a dynamic start to the new year.
Yesterday, the General Manager, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, led the agency's top management staff in their first management meeting of the year, reviewed the agency's activities from the previous year, and set ambitious goals for the year 2024.
Dr. Ajayi emphasized the importance of meeting performance targets and aligning with public expectations to promote a sustainable environment. The management also discussed challenges faced in the previous year and outlined key focus areas for the upcoming year, including updating regulations, reviewing agency laws, intensifying publicity efforts, and training/retraining personnel for improved productivity.
The meeting sets the tone for a year of innovation, collaboration, and efficiency toward fulfilling LASEPA’s constitutional responsibilities, while the GM encourages the staff to improve their service delivery to make the goals a reality.
Today, the Lagos State Environmental Protection officials, led by the General Manager, conducted a familiarization visit to some petroleum tank farms in Satellite Town, Amuwo Odofin LG area of the State, to ensure that their operational activities conform with regulated guidelines for safety and sustainable environment.
The visited tank farms included Rainoil, Mao Petroleum, A.A Rano Nig Ltd, and First Royal Oil Nig Ltd, all located in Satellite Town, Lagos.
The visit also aimed to strengthen the existing relationship between LASEPA and the petroleum tank farms. Provided the opportunity to engage in discussions on crucial environmental issues such as global climate change, efficient treatment of effluence and emissions, and general collaborations towards achieving a safe and sustainable environment in the State.
In its ongoing commitment to combat environmental infractions and uphold the well-being of Lagos residents, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) took decisive action today by shutting down Vertigo Bar, situated on Victoria Island, for noise pollution.
This enforcement action followed a thorough assessment by LASEPA, revealing that Vertigo Bar’s activities contributed significantly to noise pollution in the area. Complaints from residents prompted this swift intervention to bring back normalcy and ensure adherence to established environmental standards.
This move is to serve as a warning to other establishments across the State that contribute to noise pollution through their operations.
It is also important to reemphasize the need for adherence to the specified noise levels and maintain peaceful coexistence.
