A young scholar has made history in the medical field.

After graduating from the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast in September 2023, Kwaku Boakye Gyamfi has become one of the youngest medical doctors in Ghana, according to Face2Face Africa.

The outlet details that the 22-year-old began his path to becoming a doctor at age 5 at Danem Royal Montessori School in Accra, Ghana. Then, he went on to complete his primary and secondary education early. The completion led to Gyamfi being admitted into medical school at age 16.

Gyamfi’s achievement and opportunity to represent Ghana comes after others had made their mark as two of the youngest medical doctors in Ghana. Erica Maame Abena Pomaa Ntiamoah Mensah graduated from the Accra College of Medicine as a doctor in 2021 at 21 years old, and Vanessa Aseye Mensah-Kabu had made history by becoming a doctor at 22.

10 POINTS TO KNOW BEFORE MEDICAL SCHOOL

1. It’s not that difficult.

Now, don’t get me wrong when I say that, it’s by no means easy. However, the content is not where the difficult aspect of med school comes from. Now, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be topics that will leave you scratching your head, it just means that you won’t lose all your hair in first year. The real challenge lies in the sheer amount of content you’ll have to learn, and be expected to remember as you progress through the years.

Is Krebs cycle really that important?

(I could have made a mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell joke, but decided to abstain this time)

2. I bet they didn’t tell you about deciles on the open day?

Because, same. Competing for the limited spaces available to study medicine isn’t enough, welcome to the medical schools version of the Hunger games, deciles! Here, you’ll be ranked against every single peer in your group and be given which ‘decile’ you fit in. Depending on your uni, the deciles of different years have different weightings. But it’s still important to give it your best, these deciles will make up a part of your application at the end of med school.

3. Don’t compare yourself to your classmates.

Yes, I know I just said that med school is like the academic version of the Hunger games, but that doesn’t mean you need to compare yourself to your peers. Things other people may struggle with might be very easy for you and vice versa. You will have different strengths and weaknesses than those around you, your skills and life experiences will also lead you down a slightly different path. The way you study will be different. How you balance your life will be different. The way you spend your time and the ways you choose to learn about medicine as a whole will be different.

Importantly, please notice that I did not say that the way you do anything will be wrong. It will be different and unique, as it should be – you are your own individual with yo

How bright is the Future??

Whenever I remember that I will wear my stethoscope on a white coat, it gives me the motivation to do more
Remembering " how I will hold someone's hands, look to their face and say it's going to be fine". Leave me with no plan B

Knowing one day someone would call my mum "Mama Doctor" . Inspires me most
If all it requires is my concentration, attention and sleepless night, then I'm ever after ready to give it to it

That it's painful doesn't mean it's unachievable;
Moreover, only those who felt pain have Testimony!

WHY YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW THE CUT-OFF MARK.

Almost everyday, a lot of university applicants message me regarding the cut-off mark of the courses they intend applying. I do tell them the ones I know but if I don't know about it, I'll as well inform them I don't.

But what's the point of this post?

The main point I want to bring out of this is for you to forget about the cut-off mark if you intend scoring high in the upcoming UTME exam. If you continue focusing on the cut-off mark, it will make you feel relaxed and you won't really work hard to reach your peak.

In the most Nigerian Universities, the JAMB cut-off mark for Medicine is 240 but I tell you today that it's very rare to see anyone with 240 JAMB score in Medicine and Surgery department.

Even though the cut-off mark is 240-260. The reason being that, a lot of candidates will surely score above 240-260 and then there's limited space for admission into the Medicine programme, therefore those who scored 240 will be in the bottom in descending order of JAMB scores.

This will eventually lead to them not getting admitted even though their score is same as the cut-off mark or a little above.

This is a subtle reminder to all JAMB candidates out there vying for competitive courses to look beyond the cut-off mark and score as high as possible in the upcoming UTME exam.

I wish you the best.

Where you able to secure an admission with your 2022 jamb? If "No", the 2022 together with 2023 jamb online screening for ABU Zaria is out. Don't hesitate to apply..

Don't envy!

• Someone graduated at the age of 22, but waited 5 years before securing a good job.

• Someone became a CEO at 25, and died at 50.

• While another became a CEO at 50, and lived to 90 years.

• Someone is still single, while someone from his school group has become grandfather.

• Obama retired at 55 & Trump started at 70.

• Everyone in this world works based on their time zone.

• People around you might seem ahead of you & some might seem to be behind you.

• But everyone is running their own race, in their own time.

• Do not envy them.

• They are in their time zone, and you are in yours.

So, relax.

You're not late.
You're not early.
You are very much on time.

YOUR TIME TO SHINE IS COMING SOON

YOU ARE BLESS
