World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People is celebrated on March 20 each year. It is an ASSITEJ (campaign, and a worldwide celebration of performing arts for children and young people.

Founded in 1965, ASSITEJ, International Association for Theatre & Performing Arts for Children & Young People; is a network of artists and organisations in over 75 countries dedicated to the belief that every child and young person deserves access to the arts, and especially to live performance, from the earliest possible age.

THESPIAN Family Theatre & Productions is proudly a member of ASSITEJ.

Why does a revered Cleric and a Female President of the Senate, hook up at the Midnight Hotel? Spiritual cleansing? Crafting governance policies? A night of passion hidden from the prying eyes of ‘the discerning’ and camouflaged in a business barter? If you’ve got to ‘…go-low-low-low…’ for it, you’re possibly ‘buga-ing’ for more than what it’s worth… Las - las, eye go clear! Abi ki’ le feel? We kukuma are just saying ni o🤐.

From our gallery. This picture is from our production of Femi Osofisan’s Midnight Hotel. It’s a very ‘deep’ satire about Nigeria and the corruption that had eaten deep into the fabric of its being. Although the story is situated in the Military era, it’s still as relevant today as it was in the times that it was situated. Sorry, the story is not about a set of people, the military, politicians, tribal groups, religions, gender, age or socio-political affiliations. It’s the story of a Nation, a People who veered of the core of their value systems… Well, we will rebuild, reclaim, reestablish, recover, rejuvenate… by person, by family, by groupings, by communities… ‘to build with heart and might, one Nation bound in freedom, peace and unity’! We are in this together, aren’t we? Think Nigeria today and be the Change! 🇳🇬

Together with , spent this celebratory period with the Holy Family Home for the Elderly. It was a time of storytelling, riddles, dancing and nibbles. Didn’t know we could have so fun!!!

As part of our programmes, we have THESPIAN KöMUNitī Projects, through which we reach out to select groups or persons, using our craft to impact their situations. This is core aspect of our mission statement.

At THESPIAN Family Theatre, we use the performing arts as a tool for enlightenment, engagement, education and entertainment. As Delivery Partners for , we’re really excited about the giant strides we’ve taken. With over 100,000 teenagers in 12 States engaged through visual storytelling, it’s fulfilling to hear them make the choice to abstain from of their own accord. It’s been fun, adventure and learning for both the youngsters and those of us on the team.
We’re back to base and letting our hair down this weekend… Happy Friday everyone … 😎

Did you know that the brain keeps developing till a person gets to about 20 years of age? It’s therefore understood why underage drinking can affect memory and focus. Teenage years are critical years in everyone’s life and ability to make informed choices helps them boost their esteem and resist peer pressure.
