The Rest of Creation
God created the universe and all living beings in six days, with the seventh day set aside as a time for rest and reflection.
Each day, God brought forth a new aspect of creation, from light and darkness to the heavens, the earth, the animals, and finally, humanity. After these six days of divine work, on the seventh day, God rested.
A rest, not as a break from creation but a moment of sanctification. The seventh day, later in the Bible called ‘the Sabbath,’ was hallowed by God and set apart as holy; meant as a memorial.
A time for the created to pause and reflect on the wonders of God's creation and as a symbol, calling the faithful to remember and give thanks for the magnificent acts of creation.
