DON'T TAKE DRUGS WITH SOFT DRINKS OR COLD WATER

Nurse, my child only take drugs with soft drinks,...some say, you can even take drugs with anything afterall all na liquid and na belle e go enter.... these set of people will come back and complain that..ehnnn Nurse, That drugs didn't work, I took it religiously from day 1 to the last day , ibaha ufon!

Now let me tell you this, drugs come as strong/weak acids or Strong/weak bases or salts. Water has a neutral PH of 7 or at most 7.6 if it has impurities, when you take drugs with room temperature water, it maintains the PH of the drugs till it gets to the stomach where it is broken down to function properly, but if you take it with soft drinks which are bases, imagine if it's an acidic drug and you're now taking it with a base , you're neutralizing the drugs already.

How about cold water ?

Take for instance, milk dissolves well in room temperature water while cold water forms mounds when you try to dissolve milk in it. Same applies to your drugs, cold water will not allow it to dissolve well thereby limiting its functionality.

Drugs are best taken with only water at room temperature.

BREAST CANCER
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women worldwide. The first symptom of breast cancer that most women notice is a lump or an area of thickened tissue in their breast.

Most breast lumps are not cancerous, but it's always best to have them checked by a doctor.

You should visit the hospital if you notice any of the following:
-a new lump or area of thickened tissue in either breast that was not there before
-a change in the size or shape of one or both breasts
-a discharge of fluid from either of your ni***es
-a lump or swelling in either of your armpits
-a change in the look or feel of your skin, such as puckering or dimpling, a rash or redness
a rash (like eczema), crusting, scaly or itchy skin or redness on or around your ni**le
-a change in the appearance of your ni**le, such as becoming sunken into your breast
Breast pain is not usually a symptom of breast cancer.

DIAGNOSIS
Breast cancer can be diagnosed by Breast examination, Mammography, Breast Ultrasound , MRI scans. It is advisable to always do breast self examination as this enables early diagnosis.

TREATMENT
The main treatments for breast cancer are: surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapy.

JUST A BRIEF HISTORY

The school of Nursing UBTH was established to educate students both in theory and practice with a view to their becoming Registered Nurses .

The school was officially opened on 12th May 1973 by Mrs Victoria Gowon with an initial intake of 22 students in July 1973. The first two sets of student Nurses (numbering 45) graduated in December 1976 & May 1977 respectively with the school scoring 100% on each occasion.

CERTIFICATION AND DURATION OF STUDY

The School offered a 3-year training on general Nursing, after which qualified students take the Nursing and Midwifery Council Qualifying Examination for General Nurses. Successful students were awarded a Registered Nurses Certificate.

ORGANIZATION

The school is headed by a principal/Head Of Department. The first Principal was Miss J.C Cross. The current Principal is Mrs. Eweka. A.B.
Of course, you know principals are changed with time.
