Love yourself enough to get tested!
Taking care of your health is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices about their s*xual health is crucial in the fight against HIV and other s*xually transmitted infections (STIs).
The NiBUCAA Ambassadors NYSC Initiative (NANI) program addresses this need by training members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as peer educators on s*xual and reproductive health.
Recently, some of our NANI ambassadors visited Keme Grammar School in Ibeshi, Ikorodu, to educate secondary school students on critical topics such as teenage pregnancy, puberty, and adolescence.
By engaging directly with youth and addressing these vital issues, NANI continues to make strides in the fight against HIV.
HIV IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.
It Is a manageable health condition. With proper care and treatment, you can live a long and fulfilling life!.
Our MD/CEO, Dr. Jekwu Ozoemene and some of our team members, recently paid a courtesy call on Dr. Temitope Ilori, the new Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of (NACA).
The visit aimed to welcome Dr. Temitope Ilori and also strengthen collaboration between NIBUCAA and NACA in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
Our MD/CEO, Dr. Jekwu Ozoemene, recently delivered a thought-provoking paper titled "Future of HIV Financing - Does it Have a Cost?" at the 2024 Nigeria HIV Prevention Conference in Abuja.
Here's the key takeaway: While Nigeria's HIV response has seen success, much of the funding relies on external donors with global priorities. This raises a critical question: Can Nigeria afford a sustainable, domestic approach to HIV management when this external donors pull out?
The Lesson: We need to move towards a future where Nigeria controls its own HIV response. This requires a shift in focus towards domestic funding solutions to ensure long-term prevention and treatment success.

Most times, when people think about HIV, the first thought that comes to mind is AIDS and how they might not live long. But that's not a true story or thought!
✅ HIV is a virus that can weaken your body's defenses.
✅ AIDS is what can happen much later if HIV isn't properly managed/untreated and has been in your body for a long time and gradually weakens the immune system to a point of no return.
The good news? With proper healthcare, people with HIV can lead long and fulfilling lives by taking antiretroviral therapy (ART) regularly. This treatment helps control the virus, preventing it from progressing to AIDS and keeping the immune system strong.
It's all about getting tested and taking charge of your health!
Knowing your HIV status is the first step to prevent and manage the spread of HIV.
Get a rapid self-test kit or visit a health facility to confirm your status.

Just a day to quell a myth.
It is crucial to understand that HIV cannot be contracted from public restrooms. HIV is transmitted through specific bodily fluids such as blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk.
Casual contact, like using a public restroom, does not pose a risk of HIV transmission. Education and awareness about how HIV is and is not transmitted are essential in dispelling myths and reducing stigma surrounding the virus.
We're spreading accurate information to promote understanding and combat misinformation.
