Childcare and Early years tips
I learnt to read by memorizing words and over years, I struggled with reading. I would attempt reading some unusual words several times in my head before saying it out.
The reason for my struggle is simple, I was not properly equipped with the tools to understand the science of sounds (PHONICS)
About 80 percent of English words are phonetic, this means that the sounds of words are represented by how they're spelt.
Learning the sounds the letters make helps your child read more accurately.
Say No to memorizing words.
Intentional Parenting!
As a concerned preschool mum and preschool teacher, I just thought to share this very important information.
I understand that some of us are in a hurry to see our little ones become professors, however it is so important that we help lay a good mathematical foundation 👩🏾🏫
I love toddlers because.....
Share why you absolutely love and adore your toddler 🤭😁
Happy Teacher's Day to my amazing colleagues and dearest parents (First and best teacher)🎉🥰
Amazing Toddlers😂
I'll call this little man repeatedly and he would just ignore me...Initially, I and hubby were contemplating taking him for a check up because he would completely ignore us.
Then we tried the cocomelon tune and he appeared, anytime we open a pack of biscuits, he would just suddenly appear😂 or we open the door/ say Bye.....This little man clearly hears when we call, just decides when to answer or not.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tell me something interesting about your toddler😉
Kiks' new hobby is drawing, designing and colouring beautiful dresses.
She also loves to compose and sing songs.
Hobbies benefit children in so many ways. It gives them an opportunity to express and discover themselves and build their elf-esteem.
Kiks would just sit quietly drawing and colouring for quite a long while, totally engrossed in her activity.
From experience, I know that hobbies help us learn skills and set the course for what our children would become later in life as these hobbies often turn into lifelong interests or careers.
All toddlers have tantrums. It is a normal part of child development. Tantrums usually happen between the ages of 1 to 3 (Terrific Toddlers) and as parents it's important that we know why this tantrums happen.
Tantrums do not happen on purpose.
Young children are emotional beings and act out their feelings through their behaviour.
The cognitive part of the brain is still under construction so they do not have the ability to reason or think logically like older children, so they depend on us (adults) to help them through this phase of development.
What other reasons do you think triggers tantrums?

When young children are learning numbers, we need to create practical maths experiences.
Break down mathematical concepts into smaller steps so it's easy for them to learn without getting confused.
Here Kiks is learning with the Montessori "Large Number Cards"
She learning to count and write numbers 1- 9000 without rote counting or sitting to write.
She absolutely loves to learn and enjoys maths exercises (This gives me so much joy) ❤
I love Montessori Maths because it's practical, the child gets to see, touch/feel and understand basic maths concepts. It is a great foundation for young learners.
Kiks❤ requested that I make a video.
She has watched it several times and is looking forward to making more videos.
Would you like to see more of Kiks's videos?
She has learnt her numbers up to a thousand and can't wait to show her friends how to count and write numbers in a fun way.🤗
Tag someone that would love to see this😉
I love the Montessori maths curriculum. As a young child, I struggled to understand math concepts, I would just memorize the steps to solve problems and pass my exams....It was hard🥺
Then I found Montessori and was introduced to the maths curriculum...Haaaa! I was flabbergasted😲 everything made sense. It was hands-on, he progression of the exercises moved from concrete to abstract, simple to complex and it didnt seem like rocket science.
Now, I'm able to guide young children to understanding maths and they absolutely love learning because it's fun and interactive.
Kiks is also enjoying learning alot about numbers and I'll be sharing tips, diy activities and other learning experiences with you.
Please feel free to send dms (if you have questions), like, share and comment.
Thank you🤗😍🥰
Kiks continues to grow intellectually and making sense of the world around her.
First Picture:
We were walking home from a stroll and she stopped staring at this w**d flower and shouted , "Oh mummy, this looks like a snowflake!"
I pass through this same path daily from work and I have never noticed it.
They say adults make sense of the world by thinking and reasoning but young children use concrete experiences to make sense of this very big world.
Second Picture:
Dee doing his own exploration😂
Third & Forth Pictures
We found Pink and Purple Tulips❤
I suddenly enjoy taking pictures maybe I should enrol for photography classes, what do you think?
How's your weekend going?
This is how we introduce new vocabulary and concepts to children in a Montessori classroom...we call it the Montessori Three (3) Part Cards or Nomenclature or Classified cards. It makes learning simple
The control card has the picture and the name
The object card is just the picture
The label card is just the name
Kiks can't read some of the words, I tell her the names and she's able to look at the pictures and beginning sounds to help her remember.
This is how she learnt to name the parts of the flower today. I downloaded the free printable from
thehelpfulgarden.blogspot.com
Kiks and Baby Dee love spending time outdoors. Lately, we've had fairly good weather, lots and sunshine less rain so we went to watch and feed the geese and ducks.🦢🦆🦢🦆🦢🦆🦢
Learning takes place anywhere and everywhere and Kiks was so excited to actually see the ducks and geese.
We learnt a few differences between a goose and a duck🦢🦆
We feed the geese and ducks bread, however, I thought to myself "What nutrients are these birds getting from bread?"🤔
I did a quick search on google and discovered "bread isn't so good for birds" 😮😟 Next time, we'll go well prepared with nutritious snacks for the birds.
Do you know the difference between a goose and a duck?
Motherhood is Amazing!
Every mother has a unique and special story to tell🥰 We are most grateful to God for blessing us with beautiful children.
My pray for all the mothers in waiting 🙏
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
