The program will empower ten young women from our host communities in Cross River state, equipping them with skills for the tech industry and opening up new layers of opportunities for them.

It was an exciting and rewarding evening with our customers and trade partners at the 2023 Customer Awards which held recently, where we honoured their outstanding achievements and commitment to Lafarge Africa.
The star prize, a 2023 Toyota Prado was presented to the National Volume Champion, Prince Sunny Nwodo of Global Snco-Chris Ventures (WA) Ltd. The 1st Runner Up National Volume Champion, HRH Igwe Cosmos Umeh of C.C Umeh & Sons, received the 2023 Toyota Fortuner while Emeka Umeoduagu of U Mekason Trading Stores, emerged as the 2nd Runner-Up National Volume Champion receiving the 2023 Mistibushi Montero.
The awards, which was themed, “Winning with Excellence and Innovation,’’ brought together industry leaders, trade partners, and stakeholders to celebrate a year of remarkable accomplishments and to strengthen partnerships for future success.

We are excited to share that Viola Graham-Douglas has joined Lafarge Africa as the Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainable Development Director.
Viola joins us from Guinness Nigeria Plc where she was the IPS (International Premium Spirits), Reserve & Modern Trade Director. She had a varied career with Lafarge (WAPCO Operations, France Group and Lafarge Africa), with her last role being Communications Director.

Yesterday was a historic day for us and our communities in Cross River state as we commissioned the New Evacuation Road in Mfamosing.
The Community Liaison Oficer, Mr. Asuquo Offiong expresses the significant impact of the road construction to the communities - “Lafarge has done so well and we are really grateful to you for the evacuation road. For you it is for the transportation of your products but for us you have given us life and we are eternally grateful, thank you very much.”
In attendance was the Governor of Cross River state, Prince Bassey Edet Otu who commended Lafarge Africa for the successful completion of the project.

The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge is a fusion of contemporary art and innovation. Enabling connection between two parts of the highbrow Lagos, the 1.36 km cable-stayed bridge is the first of its kind to be built in Nigeria.

Last week, we held the second edition of the Lafarge Africa Leadership conference, where we consolidated our strategies to deliver on our vision. The conference which was themed, ‘Driving Excellence and Innovation’, had specific objectives – for all the leaders within the organization to understand our vision, our strategic imperatives, and how our roles, driven by innovation and executed excellently, tie into the bigger organizational picture.
We had a plethora of external Keynote Speakers and Guest Panelists who shared from their wealth of knowledge and experience including, His Excellency, Donald Duke, (CON), Mrs Ibukun Awosika, President/CEO, The Chair Group, Dr. (Mrs.) Owen Omogiafo, President & Group CEO, Transcorp Plc, Ms. Seun Oni, Group Managing Director/CEO of A.G. We are thrilled to announce the launch of Lafarge Africa's first-ever Green Depot in Abeokuta, which is designed to accelerate green mobility. As part of our commitment to promoting sustainable growth, the Green Depot runs entirely on a solar power system, which guarantees 100% energy conservation in lighting, air-conditioning, and electric forklift charging.
This compliments our electric and CNG trucks as it facilitates eco-friendly transportation of cement from our Ewekoro plant to the depot, further underscoring our dedication to green mobility.

Our last stop was at Ewekoro community where our CEO and other senior team members paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Abdulfatai Akorede Akomo, the Olu of Itori, and then proceeded to the commissioning of completed CSR projects including provision of the Papalanto Health Centre, presentation of the Magistrate Staff Quarters Itori, Oke-Oko Sekoni Electrification, and classrooms at Ewekoro. We provided culverts, drainages, concrete roads, electricity, and bursary awards.

Collaborating for Impact - Education
At Lafarge Africa, our people and communities remain at the heart of our social interventions. We are focused on four key pillars of our social impact programmes, including Education, Empowerment, Health and Safety and Shelter and Infrastruture.
To underscore our commitment to Education within our host communities, last week, our CEO, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, led a volunteering engagement at Egbado Ajegunle Community Primary School Ewekoro, where he had a book reading session with the Pupils. The Pupils had the opportunity to learn from him and ask him questions around career aspirations and other topics.
The CEO also commissioned Ewekoro Grammar School, which consists of a block of classrooms, offices, and toilets donated to the Ewekoro community.
