Welcome to the bewitching world of Circus Dinogad in which Welsh contralto Hilary Summers, the Dutch theorbo & bass clarinet duo Mike Fentross & Ornstein and the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam converge in a fusion of musical traditions.

Formed in Amsterdam in 2022, this new ensemble’s journey takes you through ancient melodies, reimagined classics, and innovative original compositions that playfully plunge into the bottomless sea of human emotions.

The first steps of this new group explored more or less familiar areas, namely the boundaries between baroque, renaissance, traditional and improvised music. The culmination of their journey comes in the shape of the Seven Deadly Sins: seven completely new compositions, written by the individual musicians woven seamlessly into the fabric of the album. With this innovative addition to their album, the ensemble’s essence evolved, shedding traditional stylistic confines and boldly embarking on audacious musical escapades.

News: the Dudok Essay for this season has arrived in print!

We are thrilled to announce that famous novelist, columnist and legal philosopher Maxim Februari has written an essay about Tchaikovsky especially for our audiences.

Since 2019 we have been commissioning famous authors to write essays about the works that form the centre of our repertoire for that specific season. The only thing we ask from them is that they reflect on the question ‘why should we listen to this music today’. These essays are handed out for free at the end of our concerts.

Previous Dudok Essays were written by Anna Enquist about Haydn and by Jan Brokken about Brahms. These earlier editions can be found via the Downloads-section of our website.
