EU DEBATE: WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE?

On the 27th of May, Studium Generale organises an EU debate in Forum, with the top names of the parties present. 🇪🇺 This edition is organised in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts (University of Groningen) and the research group Democracy & Governance (Rudolf Agricola School) and Forum Groningen.

Prior to the debate, there is a variety of activities for all participants. A session on "EU Explained: Uncovering the Perceptions" in the Rabo Studio and a Debate Workshop in the Newsroom led by Groninger Debating Society Kalliope. Both start at 19:00 so there is something for everyone to choose from. The Jongeren Advies Raad (JAR) will also be present with a stand.

Tickets are for free, so don't hesitate to get yours, and find out how YOUR VOTE MATTERS!

On Tuesday the 21st of May at 17:30, the Handover General Members Meeting of Study Association Clio will be held at Blokes, Poelestraat 33.

During the General Members Meeting, the Board will present its handover policy and members will have the chance to ask questions or to make comments. At the end of the evening, the 36th Clio Board will be deinstalled, and the 37th Clio Board will be installed.

The Handover Policy has been uploaded to the Clio website. We encourage everyone to read over the documents beforehand and have them with you digitally during the GMM in accordance with our sustainability guidelines. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Moreover, the Board encourages members to send in questions about the policy to [email protected]. All sent in questions will be discussed and answered during the GMM itself. Questions can be sent in until noon, the 20th of May.

The sports committee provides workouts, Batavierenrace, and a sports day for the association. We have already seen a lot of you at our ice-skating, badminton, and yoga workout. 🧘‍♀️🏸 Within two weeks, we travel to Enschede to run Batavieren with Clio, which we are very excited for! 🏃‍♂️

We are there for you if you want to have a fun and sporty time with all of you who want to combine socializing and working out with fellow Clio members.🎯

📚 Meet the Academic Committee! 🎓

The Academic Committee is in charge of organizing study sessions, language cafes, and putting out summaries. We had our first event back in December, with Quizmas Cookies 🍪. We consistently organize study sessions with professors every exam season so you can ask your questions! 📝

We also organized the Watch and Learn with the Travel committee for our exciting trip to Istanbul this month! 🌍 This was a very fun event with a travel film discussing Istanbul and some Turkish speakers so our travelers could ask questions. 🎥🇹🇷

Language cafes are a collaboration between several associations in Groningen. They allow a low-pressure forum once a month where people are able to go and speak languages they are learning. The committee organizes a space where native speakers will speak with those learning, so you are able to learn culture through language. 🗣️🌐

Join us as we delve into innovation for a greener future! 💚 Are you interested in sustainability and do you want to implement new eco-friendly practices in your daily life?

On the 25th of April VIP, Ubbo Emmius, Ibn Battuta, and Clio organize the third edition of the Night of Sustainability. There will be an interesting plenary lecture and afterwards you can join two workshops!✅️ There will be a clothing swap and we will end the night with a free drink.

For the clothing swap you can drop of your clothing at the Clio office (H1311.0221) from 10.00-13.00 on the day. 👕♻️ In return you will receive coins, which can be exchanged for new clothing during the swap. (Please note that underwear and swimwear are not eligible for exchange).

The walk-in for the event starts at 19:00 and it will be held in Schimmelpenninck Huys. Put it in your calendars and we hope to see you there! 🌳
