Founded in 1988, IBS Groningen was the first international business school in the Netherlands, based at a university of applied sciences.
IBS guides its students and graduates towards successful and rewarding careers in international business. From the moment you walk down our hallway, you immediately experience the international atmosphere. You meet students from all over the world and are taught by lecturers with strong international backgrounds. Cultural diversity is valued by all in this open-minded setting, where we speak and teach in English.
We're back on campus!🤗
🧑🏽🏫 Our introduction period doesn't start until next week, but this week is a working week for staff. We're looking forward to welcoming you all back next week!
🌏 If you're an international student we love to meet you at the Hanze Welcome Day this Friday! 👉 Check hanze.nl/welcomeday for more info.
Enjoy the final weeks of summer and see you next week!🌞
🎓 Celebrating the end of an incredible journey with our amazing IBS students at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen! Yesterday’s graduation ceremony marked a milestone, celebrating all the hard work our students have put in. Over 100 bachelor’s and master’s students received their BBA, MBA, and MSc degrees – congratulations to each and every one of you!
Here’s to new beginnings and endless possibilities! 🌟
Today IBS lecturer-researcher Marcel van der Poel presented his book 'Anders dan ik', about intercultural communication and diversity & inclusion. He offered the first copy of the book to Dorothea van der Meulen, Dean of Minerva Art Academy.
'How do we engage and connect with each other in a super-diverse society? The book 'Anders dan ik' offers an illuminating look at cultural differences and the contemporary debate around diversity and inclusion. The book goes beyond naming differences; it is about experiencing differences in a self-constructed context. A context that - precisely because it is self-made - always leaves room for desired change.'

Congratulations Marcel!🎉
We are thrilled to announce that Drs. Gemma Coughlan and Dr. Petra van Heugten have won the prestigious David Gillingham Award at the NIBS Annual Conference in Manchester! 🎉
This award honors outstanding, internationally-oriented business education projects, and our "Pure Living Project" was recognized for its incredible impact.
🌍 The Pure Living Project, a collaboration between Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, Takoradi Technical University , Gateway to Africa, and the Pure Living Consortium, is making sustainability accessible by comparing traditional and self-sustainable housing models in Ghana. Through this project, students gain hands-on experience in eco-friendly, economically viable, and socially responsible solutions.
📈 The project not only advances business education but also inspires future sustainability leaders. Students' innovative solutions have attracted global attention, with potential benefits extending beyond Ghana to neighboring countries.
🌿 The impact of this project is also felt on our own campus. The "Grow Your Own Home" initiative is underway, aiming to build a sustainable student village at Hanze, teaching students to live self-sufficiently and sustainably.
💬 Hear from our students: Siham Ouahim: "Pitching our project to a jury was an invaluable learning experience!" Alexander Bosker: "The Impact Lab was everything I needed to grow and learn!"
Join us in celebrating this incredible achievement and the inspiring work of our students and faculty! 🙌

Today Dr Niels Faber was inaugurated as professor of Transition Towards a Circular Economy at the Research Centre Biobased Economy. Professor Faber has focused his research on sustainable innovation for the past 20 years and he took over the professorship from Dr Egbert Dommerholt.
'The transition from linear to circular is a major challenge in our current economic system. How can we organise ourselves (research institutions, companies, government, citizens) for a circular economy? What is required for this, how can we prepare? Niels Faber will work on this issue through innovative research, collaboration with companies and inspiring education.'

👋Meet Colin from Germany.🇩🇪 Colin is studying the IB 3-year programme and he is currently interning at BMW Group as a retail development & sales intern.
‘I chose the study programme at IBS because I have always been interested in how (big) companies are being managed and operating internationally. Besides my interest in business and management, I wanted to study completely in English, which in Germany is unusual.🇬🇧 Furthermore, I wanted to combine my studies with a study abroad semester and an internship to get practical experience, which in my eyes is the most important.💪
The best part about my studies so far was definitely the second year when I had the chance to study in my all-time dream country: the USA.🇺🇲 I spent a semester at Valdosta State University in Georgia. Moreover, I had the chance to intern at my favourite company, which is also the reason why I started studying IBS.
After my bachelor’s degree, I want to pursue a master’s degree to specialize in strategic management, which I followed a course in during my semester abroad and it really appealed to me.’
