Inspiration for this 42m motor yacht came from ‘streamlined’ designs by Raymond Loewy (November 5, 1893 – July 14, 1986), explains Guido de Groot, referring to designs such as Loewy’s famous bullet-nosed train for the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Greyhound Scenicruiser bus and the Studebaker cars. She therefore evokes a golden era with her elegant, streamlined form and classic features.

A novel split-level owner’s cabin gives side access to a private fold-out balcony close to the sea, and an adjoining sauna and gym area.

The interior design by Guido de Groot for MY Micamo can be described as having a minimalist Japanese style fused with various European influences. An open look and feel have been achieved with a consistent palette of colours that make the most of the natural light offered by the large windows.

Various elements from nature enhance the soft tones, while the white surfaces are offset by vertical stainless-steel elements that grant a sense of power and balance to the interior. Micamo has been recently launched at Van der Valk Shipyard and will be delivered this spring to her owner.

The Guido de Groot design studio is working on several yacht concepts on which most are exploring new shapes for times to come. The styling of the Streamliner concept is however taking us back in time.
