In the weekend of 𝟮𝟭𝘀𝘁 & 𝟮𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, Kunsthuis Leiden will open the solo exhibition “Transversal Identity” by the internationally renowned French artist 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘂 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱 during 𝗞𝘂𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻 💙

Pétraud uses the decimals of PI and a self-designed graphic alphabet based on lines to express her ideas. By translating the world around her into a mathematical model, she is able to bring normally invisible worlds onto the canvas. Her work is characterized by vibrant colors and inspiration from neoplasticism, conceptual art and pop art. She has consistently explored new and innovative approaches to painting, blending mathematical logic and letting go to explore themes such as reality, identity and beauty.

Baldot, born Uvaldo Antonio Torrez, is a Colombian artist who has made a remarkable journey from the boxing ring to the art world. Baldot had always been working as an artist from young age, but before he became known for his vibrant and evocative paintings Baldot was celebrated as a boxing champion. His athletic career was marked by discipline, determination, and a fierce dedication to his craft; traits that would later influence his work as an artist.

After retiring from boxing, Baldot channeled his passion back into painting, discovering a new way to express the intensity and emotion that defined his life in the ring. Using bold colors, dynamic forms, and a unique blend of abstraction and realism, Baldot creates pieces that resonate with energy and movement, much like the sport that first brought him fame.

Eroded Brillo Box is a sculpture found in a future archaeological dig site using Warhol’s iconic 1964 Brillo Box as the base. In collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum, Arsham has been granted access to the Warhol archives. The passing of time has transformed the object from its original materials into a sculpture inspired by the original Arsham work made of quartz crystal and other calcified geological materials.

“The discussion between Daniela Braga and her passenger looks to have taken a bad turn in this photograph that was part of our American road trip series. It was taken in the deep winter, high above the old mining town of Butte, Montana. The viewer is fully in charge of assigning the story line, but Daniela’s look of shock suggests that the wolf has made an indecent proposal.”

Vespers series ❤️

Brian Clarke, born in Oldham, Lancashire (1953) is a British painter, architectural artist and printmaker, known for his large-scale stained glass and mosaic projetcs, symbolist paintings and collaborations with leading figures in Modern and Contemporary architecture. With his ‘Vespers’ series Clarke presents a monumental cycle of over 500 paintings with the form of a poppy as the striking inventive investigation into painterly abstraction and the liquid nature of colour.

“I tried to see if I could capture not so much how a poppy looks, but that feeling that they have. Sometimes it’s one of very delicately balancing their beauty on the top of those tender, tender stems — the way the stems drip with great speed out of the flower down to the ground, and you don’t see how one could hold them up until you happen to touch a poppy, and it’s like luminous gossamer.”

KAWS 🖤
The classic KAWS Companion figure is lying on its back holding a smaller companion in its arms, reclined and in embrace. In celebration of the highly-anticipated event Brian Donelly, known as KAWS, released this Holiday Singapore Figure replica. “In the first Holiday project (on Seoul’s Seokchon Lake), the figure was reclining in water looking straight up. I was trying to think of the most relaxed situation I could possibly be in and I imagined swimming and just staring up into the sky.” – Brian Donelly

Beautiful original work by Bart Slangen. In his work, Slangen deliberately obscures perfection and draws us into the alienation of what is called reality. He sharply observes what is fleetingly captured, then repaints it in a blurred manner. Bart Slangen’s works perhaps have more to do with disappearing than appearing, reflecting a melancholic longing for beauty, purity, and a drive for perfection.
