At 4 pm, Prof. Jan Jonker explains how the app works and how you can use it. Bicycle files at every traffic light, the Waal bridge that is fixed, and always in a crowded train. Now that corona is gripping society, you would almost forget that this was the daily routine to get to Campus Heijendaal! In order to get a grip on the traffic around Campus Heijendaal - the busiest area in Gelderland - master's student Romy Janssen (23, Spatial Planning) studies the commuting of employees at the ROC, HAN, Radboud University and Radboud UMC. 🎉

Sustainable Accessibility Heijendaal has set up various initiatives in recent years to make alternative modes of transport more attractive for cars. A better spread over different modes of transport is better for accessibility, safety, and of course the environment. Going to work by bicycle, train, or bus or working from home more often saves 1000 to 4000 kilos of CO2 per person per year! Enough reasons to investigate whether employees make more conscious choices in their commuting. The research must show whether employees actually started traveling differently, but also which type of traveler is more open to (sustainable) changes. These insights help to set up more effective mobility measures to guarantee a sustainably accessible campus in the future!
